Chapter - 3

Two days later, Si Ming who is in charge of fate of mortals, came to Dijun and informed him about the Demons taking lives of innocent mortals.

Dijun decided to investigate about this matter himself. He called Zhong Lin and told him that he will be away for few days and handed him responsibility of the fox. He didn't went to see his fox before leaving. He knew if the fox came to knew where he was going, the fox will definitely be accompanying him and he didn't wanted his fox to be in danger.

Meanwhile, the fox thought why the former Emperor has not visited her for the past three days. Zhong Lin has been taking care of her and didn't tell her where Dijun was.

Two weeks had already passed. She still didn't see Dijun. She was locked up in her own room that Dijun gave her. So she decided to sneak out and came across a garden. She secretly heard two maids gossiping. She was shocked when she heard them saying that Dijun had came back a week ago. She wondered why Dijun didn't come to visit her if he had already came back. What more shocked her was when she heard the maids saying Dijun came back with an injured beautiful woman.

She felt uneasy for a moment. So she decided to investigate about it. When the maids went away, Feng Jiu transformed in her immortal form and placed an invisible spell on herself so no one could see her.

She searched the whole palace looking for him. Then she came across his sleeping chambers and peeped from the front door. She paused for a moment when she saw what was happening in front of her. She saw Dijun holding a beautiful woman in her arms and was feeding her medicine. The woman's hands and her feets were bandaged neatly just like Dijun used to tend her wounds when she was injured. She thought did Dijun attended to that woman personally. Many questions emerged in her mind. She thought why he didn't came to see her if he had already came back a week ago.

Then she came back to reality when she realised that to him she was only a pet fox. To his eyes, she was only a spiritual fox. Many thoughts came to her mind and those were all disheartening ones.

She quickly ran away and she was in tears. She wiped them but they came back quickly. She didn't knew why she was hurt. She was the one who chose to hide her own identity. She thought if she had revealed her identity during that time then she would have been the woman in Dijun's arms. She thought how could she think of him like that. Dijun was already fated to no one. Then how could she dream about him in that way.

Did she fall in love with Dijun, she thought. Maybe she was.

Feng Jiu had not realised that she had left the palace when she ran away. She didn't knew where she was running into. Then she came across to a stone where names of the fated ones were written. She saw Dijun's name at the top with a woman's name by his side called Ji Heng. In her childhood she read Dijun was not fated to anyone then she thought why his name was there. Then she realised it didn't matter anymore. He already belonged to someone.

She didn't knew what to do anymore. She didn't even knew anyone in heaven besides Dijun and Zhong Lin. Apparently the heaven was strict in security. No one could pass in and out of heaven without the Heavenly Lord's permission. The guards were of ancient time and could sense each and every thing around them. If she ever had tried to escape, the guards would surely caught her and her identity would have been exposed. She would have embarrassed the Kingdom of Qing Qiu.

With her heart broken she went back to the palace. She transformed back into her spiritual fox form. She decided she will escape whenever she will get a chance and get away from heaven. She came back to her room and was already tired of the entire drama happening around her. She went to her tiny her bed to sleep. But she couldn't. No matter who much effort she gave herself to go back to sleep, the image of Dijun holding that woman appeared in her mind. She couldn't sleep at all.

Four days had already passed. Zhong Lin only came to bring food for her four times a day and never said a word. But Dijun never came to see her. She didn't even eat for four days. She had already lost her appetite.

She was bored and decided to leave the room and get some fresh air.

When she went out, all she could she was red. Maids were decorating the palace in red chimes and fabrics as if someone was going to marry.

She was disheartened. She knew the only one person could marry here was Dong Hua Dijun. So he was getting married and that's why he didn't visit her as she thought. She heard a palace maid saying to another that the lucky woman who was going to marry Dijun was Ji Heng who was saved by Dijun himself. They also said it was a fairy tale, like a prince saves a woman and fall in love with each other and get married.

Feng Jiu couldn't take it anymore. The news tore her into pieces. She didn't want to stay in heaven anymore. She fell in love with the wrong person but when a nine tailed fox fell in love with someone, the fox would love that person till death and will never be able to love anyone.

That very night Feng Jiu disguised herself as a maid and snuck out with other maids out of the palace.

Before leaving she visited each and every place she and Dijun went together and remembered each and every sweet moment they had together.

She thought what a mistake she had done. It was also a best mistake she had ever done in her life. She fell in love. To her, falling in love never needs a reason. As she came across the heaven's gates, she was filled with sweet and sour memories.

She pledged she will become a better person and a great ruler for Qing Qiu as it was the only was to distract herself from Dijun. She will always protect him but now was not the time.

She left the heaven and never looked back...
