The following days were filled with hunting animals, mining for resources, and improving their small cave. By the end of their fifth night in the game, they each had a bed to sleep on (on opposite sides of the cave, of course) and a set of iron tools to use. George went to bed early that night after a day full of hard mining, and fell asleep to the sound of Dream humming as he cooked food in their furnace. Right before drifting off, he thought, I suppose there are some benefits to being stuck in a virtual world with him.

George awoke to the pink light of early morning filtering into their cave. Looking over, he saw that Dream was still fast asleep on his own bed. George smiled faintly, before wondering why the sight made him so happy. He shook it off and headed outside.

Dream found him at the top of the hill a few hours later, hugging himself as he watched the sun rise over the mountains. Dream watched him for a minute, then quietly crept over and sat down next to him.

Hearing Dream's footsteps beside him, George jumped. "Jesus, Dream, you scared me."

"What?" Dream let out a sound between a whistle and a laugh. "I literally just walked up, I didn't even say anything... Why are you so pink?"

George felt his face heat up even more. "What? I don't know what you're talking about. My face isn't pink."

"George, I love you, but you're a really bad liar."

"Shut up, Dream."
Dream laughed and stood up. "Whatever. I'm gonna go make some breakfast. Come and get some if you want."

"Mmph."

As the sound of Dream's footsteps grew softer, George found his thoughts wandering back to where they'd been moments before. A mental image of Dream, laughing his stupid wheezing laugh. Replaying memories they'd shared over the years. Dream staring at him with those goddamn beautiful green eyes... Oh my god, George, shut up. He's just your friend, nothing more. George felt his face heat up again as he tried to shake off those thoughts.

A few minutes later, George wandered into their base, drawn by the smell of bacon. His stomach growled as he took a piece from the pile on top of the furnace and sat down beside Dream to eat.

"So, Georgie," Dream took another bite of food and kept talking. "What do you wanna do today?"

"Ew, Dream, that's disgusting. Stop talking with your mouth full."

"Make me."

"Just shut up."

Dream rolled his eyes, but didn't say anything else until he had swallowed. "There, happy?"

"No."

"You're impossible, George."

"No, Dream, You're impossible."

"Love you too, Georgie."

They ended up venturing down to the beach, an area they hadn't previously explored. George argued that they should be using the time to get more resources, but as Dream said, "It doesn't matter how much gear you have if you're not enjoying the game. This is supposed to be a fun experience, George. Just relax and try to enjoy it."

Upon reaching the place where the grassy hills met the beach, they took off their shoes and walked barefoot in the sand. George cautiously tested the water with his toe. "Ugh. It's cold."

"No, it's not. You're just being dumb."

"Dream. It's cold."

Dream rolled his eyes and ran ahead of George into the water. "Whatever you say, Georgie. I guess I'll just have to have fun without you."
