Mariah tapped her foot nervously as she looked around the Starbucks place.
Blaxton hadn’t shown up and she was out in the human world. Alone.
Only the girls knew where she was, but that wouldn’t help much if she was attacked by lessers.
Or worse. By stupid humans.
Sure, she knew self-defense, just like everyone else in the Brotherhood mansion, but still…
She checked her phone. Ahgony had texted her last night when she hadn’t gone to his room. She just wasn’t ready to face him. Not after his betrayal.
She had replied a bit rudely.
Mariah: I know you told my dad. I asked you not too. Staying in my room today.
His reply had been quick and confusing.
Ahgony: Wow. Thought you knew me better than that. Guess I was wrong.
Who else could it have been? It had had to be Ahgony. Right?
She sipped at her Frappuccino-non-fat-whipped something something, just thinking things through.
She had always trusted Ahgony, never doubted him for a second, so usually she would have never believed he would be capable of doing such a thing.
But he was bonded to her now, which meant, her security came before everything. Even her wishes. So if he thought telling Rhage was the best thing for her safety, he’d tell. Despite the fact that she had asked him not too.
Or so she thought. She wasn’t exactly an expert on the bonding rules and how they worked.
Taking another sip of her drink, she winced when a wave of nausea hit her.
She pushed her drink away, oh dear Virgin it tasted foul!
She almost gagged from the smell of it alone. It was making her queasy.
Mariah got up.
Time to head back to Safe Place before going back home.
Her path was blocked by two human males. Men.
With NYCU hoodies. Frat boys. Awesome.
- Hey baby, you here all alone?
- Nope, can you let me through? Like, now?
- Aw come on, don’t go. Let us buy you a…
- No thanks.
- Come on bitch, don’t be like that. We just wanna have some fun and … Au, what the fuck!
She looked up when both of them yelped.
Blaxton had a hold on their thick necks, his face contorted in a growl, the tips of his fangs showing.
His words were almost not understandable as he spoke through clenched teeth.
- Apolgize to her. Now.
- We’re so… s… sorry miss. Ma’am.
- Yeah. Yeah, sorry, we didn’t mean too…
Blaxton pushed them forward and she quickly stepped aside as they tripped over themselves. They both scrambled to get up and got the hell out of the place, without glancing back.
- Thanks big brother.
She grinned at him.
- Are you ok?
