Elaina found her way back to her bedroom and collapsed on her bed. She stared up at the ceiling, gazing at the glow-in-the-dark stars she placed up there years ago with Five's help. She was bored one day and decided to persuade the boy into helping her put up some of her favorite constellations: Scorpius, Ophiuchus, Aquila, and of course, Libra; the Hargreeves's zodiac sign.
The girl could feel herself smiling, remembering how technical he could get about certain things, and the placements of those plastic little stars were no exception. What started as him helping her with this little project became him completely taking over, making sure that they were as astrologically correct as possible. Looking at them now, she truly appreciated his meticulousness because the end result was beautiful.
Lost in her memories, Elaina's hand lifted in the air and her finger began to subconsciously trace the outlines of each star.
Just as she started on Libra, her finger slowly started to curl down as a melodic beat distracted her. She could hear I Think We're Alone Now by Tiffany blasting from down the hall. Her brows raised in pleasant surprise, sitting up and gradually felt her head lazily bobbing from side to side before amping up to the beat of the song.
Damn, she always thought this was a great song.
In the other rooms throughout the mansion, the rest of the Hargreeves siblings began to feel the infectious feeling too as they slowly started dancing along with the song before breaking into a full-blown, individual dance party.
Elaina started head-banging and twirling around on the bed before jumping to the ground, grabbing her hairbrush, and singing into it like a microphone.
Allison was spinning around with her boa draped across her neck, shimmying and shaking with a grin on her face.
Luther was flailing his arms around and doing some strange dance move that imitated a duck.
Klaus was waltzing around the kitchen with their father's urn.
Vanya danced in an off-kiltered way, moving along to the beat in her own style.
And Diego popped and locked in place, dancing the most feverishly out of the bunch.
But suddenly, there was an unexpected flash of blue electric light that flared blindingly through the estate's windows. Thunder roared, shaking the building as the lights shut off and the music seized. Elaina's framed photo of her and Five flew toward her room's entry, slamming into the wooden door and causing an angry jagged line to appear on the shattered glass.
"What the hell?" exclaimed a wide-eyed Elaina, staring at the picture as it stuck to the door like a magnet, before yanking the hunk of wood open and running down the stairs.
She met her brothers and sisters down in the courtyard. Leaves were flying everywhere and the wind howled. The air around them almost felt like it was vibrating as a blueish portal fluctuated in the sky above them.
"What is it?" asked Vanya, staring up at the portal.
"Don't get too close!" warned Allison, putting a protective hand on Luther.
"Yeah, no shit!" remarked Diego.
"It looks like some sort of temporal anomaly," voiced Luther, his eyes squinted upward as they examined the cerulean vortex.
"Or," pipped in Elaina. "It could also be a miniature black hole," her eyes, along with everyone else, were still glued to this pulsating thing.
"One of the two," shrugged Luther in accordance.
"Pretty big difference there, you freaks," snapped Diego at the duo.
"Out of the way!" shouted Klaus as he pushed past everyone with a fire extinguisher in his hands.
