A piercing scream roared through the alleys, alerting a certain teen. Immediately, he turns and jumps from roof to roof in the direction of the feminine cries. The teen loved the feeling of air flying through his untamed hair, it reminded him of his mother's gentle caress. Once the screaming was in front of him, he came to a halt on a roof above the scene.
It was a short alleyway, walled by bricks in 3 directions. A dumpster stood against the right wall, perfect for jumping on and off of. Opposite of that were trash bags, which were great for creating a distraction, or for materials. Overall, it would be a great place for the teen to duel, but only if it was day. Then he could see not just what, but who was there.
The screams emanated from the cornered end of the darkened alley, but he couldn't actually see her. Every hero knows to never enter a battle before knowing where or who your opponents are, especially him. But he couldn't just stand there! There was no way of knowing if the woman was on the brink of death or not! Even if it was recklessly stupid, the teen silently leaps from the roof to the middle of the alley.
"Just give me the money, and no one gets hurt," a masculine shaky voice spoke. He quickly turned to the voice behind him, only to be met with a void of darkness. If he couldn't see them in this dark, (unless either one had a night vision quirk,) then they couldn't see him.
"No! I earned money, n-not you jackass! S-someone, help!" A sickly chuckle replied through the empty void. Stepping closer, the man stated: "Need it? I bet you've never faced a struggle in your life! Especially with that 'famous' family of yours. Unlike you, I actually need it. Come on, no hero patrols this run-down part of town, no one's coming for you, just give it up." Planning a surprise attack from behind, the teen quickly jumped onto the dumpster, making one fatal mistake. As the clang of the dumpster lid echoed, an even louder bang erupted.
Agonizing throbbing pain shoots through the teen's shoulder. He yelps out in pain, falling to his side. Suddenly, all his cuts and bruises from previous battles, or his father's beatings, screamed at him to stop moving. To just give up. The unendurable throbbing and burning pain spread throughout his entire body, immobilizing him.
"Help! Please! Anyone! This man is going to kill me! Help, please..." the woman choked through her sobs, as her words became quieter and hopeless.
Whatever pain he was feeling at that moment, didn't matter. There was someone crying for help. Someone he could save, someone he needed to save. Gathering whatever strength left in his fragile arms, he pushed himself up. Using the force of his jump off the dumpster, he lunged straight towards him, delivering a fierce blow to their back.
"Umph!" Now off balance, the teen grabbed the hand that held the gun, harshly turning him around. He tightened his grip around the taller's wrist to cut off its circulation. The man dropped his weapon. This was his chance! He quickly bent down to grab it- when a fist harshly collided with his face. The force knocked him the rest of the way down. Still desperately reaching for the gun, only to be stopped by a heavy weight on his bloodied shoulder. "Ack!" His shoulder burned like hell, as the boot dug deeper and deeper onto his shoulder. Pain coursed through his entire body. It was like being burnt and pounded all at once. Was this the man's quirk? Or was getting shot really this painful?
"I'm sorry, I really didn't want to hurt anyone. But I need this money to help my sick daughter." The shorter heard how his voice quivered, this man genuinely didn't want to hurt him. He almost felt sorry for him, he could even relate to him in a way. But what mattered most in that moment was that guy was capable of hurting someone. There was no way he'd let that happen to the woman, or anyone else. Even if it meant sacrificing the one thing that gave him purpose. Grabbing his knife from his belt, he pierced through the man's ankle. He released his breath as the pressure was removed off his shoulder, when the man fell.
