After my encounter with Grell, I made my way inside. Grell still stood by the red roses. I noticed a light shade of red dust her cheeks and I chuckled to myself as I stepped inside. I knew there was work I needed to get done so I began to make my way to my study.
I walked up stairs, but stopped halfway up when I heard Madam Red call my name. I turned around and saw her standing at the base of the stairway. "Yes auntie, Is there something I can help you with?" I smiled faintly as I titled my head curiously.
Madam Red sighed and crossed her arms. "I wanted to tell you something. Be careful around Grell, she is after all only a simple butler. I would hate for your image to get hurt if people were to see you treating a butler like a good friend, or even a romantic partner." I rolled my eyes and sighed, pinching the bridge of my nose for a moment.
I hated that because of my noble position people expected me to just think I was better than servants, or butlers, but I never thought that way. I treated everyone equally, despite their status. Which did occasionally get my name thrown around in gossip, and most nobles weren't to fond of me for it. "Listen Madam Red, I understand where you are coming from and I know that you want what is best for me. But with all do respect, do not tell me what to do or how to treat others." My smile left my face and I looked at her with a serious face.
She looked at me with shock for a moment, than gave me a closed eye smile and nodded. "Sorry dear, I just don't want you to get hurt, that's all." I faked a smile for her sake. "That's alright. Now really, I must get to work, I have many things I need to get done." I walked up the rest of the steps without saying another word. When I rounded the corner I saw Mey-Rin, Bard, and Finny, all standing there.
I sighed and looked at them. "Were you three eavesdropping again?" I crossed my arms and eyed them suspiciously. "We're so sorry mistress, it won't happen again." Mey-Rin quickly said as all three of them bowed. "How many times must I say it, call me Y/N, and stand up straight, wouldn't want you injuring your backs from bowing so much." I winked at them and walked down the hall to my study.
I was never harsh on any of them. No matter what they did. I was grateful that I had them, they are amazing at their jobs. They protected my brother and I, and they are always fun to talk with. I opened my door to my study and sat down at my chair. My desk was already cluttered with paperwork I needed to get sorted out. Yawning, I started my work.
-Time Skip to three hours later-
I had almost finished my work when I heard glass shattering. I quickly got up and ran out to where I heard the noise. I walked into one of the hallways, seeing Mey-Rin with a blushing red face and Sebastian holding a letter. Behind me came Bard and Finny, and behind Sebastian I saw Madam Red and Lau coming to see what was going on. "Sebastian." Finny said, but was interrupted by me. "What is going on here?" I saw glass from the shattered window and instantly was on edge.
Sebastian simply smiled. "Sorry for the noise my lady. I assure you nothing's wrong, please don't concern yourself." Grell ran up and stood behind Madam Red, she must've fallen behind while running to see what the noise was. "Nothing, are you sure?" Madam Red asked. Sebastian spoke once again looking at us. "Everyone I have business to attend to. Would you mind cleaning this up?" He handed Bard a pie that he was holding, which I hadn't even noticed till now.
Sebastian began to walk away. "So when you say clean...uh...that means we can eat it?! Right?" He asked hopefully, but when he turned around Sebastian was already gone. "Sebastian?" He asked confused. I sighed and my anxiety went through the roof. I knew something was wrong and it was about my brother. He wasn't here to see what the shattering noise was, which most likely meant he wasn't in the mansion at all.
