RIDE OR DIE
Chapter 4
Waking up, beside you I'm a loaded gun,
I can't contain this anymore,
I'm all yours, I got no contr-
My hand reached for my cell phone to shut off that blasted alarm, only for it to knock the device off my nightstand. "Oh, for the love of-" I grumbled.
-ol, no control...
Powerless, I don't care it's obvious,
I just can't get enough of you,
The pedal's down, my eyes are closed, no-
I scrambled out of my bed to reach for my phone on the ground. My eyes are closed my foot!
After finally succeeding in hitting the 'dismiss' button, I got up from the floor and placed my phone back on the nightstand. Let's get this day over and done with.
I went into the bathroom to brush my teeth and do my business, humming No Control while I was at it. I can't say that I'm a Directioner, but you gotta admit - that song is a bop.
I came out of the bathroom and headed into my closet to get ready for a morning run. I wore a black nylon t-shirt and joggers with a white windbreaker on top. After strapping on a running belt and putting on a pair of socks, I exited the closet.
I quickly threw my hair up into a messy bun and grabbed my phone before heading downstairs. After grabbing a water bottle and securing it to my running belt, I made my way out of the house.
It's been a few days since the bonfire that night and it is finally Friday. My daily routine consisted of me waking up at five in the morning, running or working out for about an hour, having some breakfast, showering and going to school. However, since it's still winter break, and I have a few more days until it's 'back to school', I spend the remainder of my day either hanging out with the gang, staying at home reading or going to work.
I jogged around the streets surrounding my neighbourhood and headed towards the city park like how I always do. I've done this so many times that I've practically memorised every bump there is on the sidewalk.
This, to some people may become dull and boring over time, but somehow for me, it doesn't get old. It's probably because I've got my friends there to keep me entertained whenever we spend time together, or it could be a whole different reason. But what I do know is that every day that I wake up to can never be boring for me.
And it looks like the fun just started.
As I jogged through the sleeping city, I noticed that somewhere around that time footsteps were constantly trailing from behind me. And it seems like the owner of those footsteps were out for a run too since I could clearly hear them following me for the past seven minutes or so.
Now... What are the odds of two strangers jogging to the same destination, at the same time, at the same pace? Not very high.
Unless it isn't a stranger.
Judging by the slight weight of the footsteps, the person's definitely a man. A man who most likely is very much taller than I am and is perfectly capable of overtaking me, if they wanted to.
This is one of the reasons why I don't listen to music while I'm jogging on the streets. Not as much as to make sure if anyone's following me, but it's so that I can take in my surroundings. To be much more alert, you can say.
