[ Y/N's POV ]

I woke up to the light in my shared bedroom with Shō being turned on. I curled into my blankets more before looking to see who it was.
I hope it's not dad.

To my relief, it was not Dad. It was Shō. I stared at the wall for a minute before slowly lifting my upper body off the futon, my legs criss-crossing as I put my hands in between my thighs. "Shō? It's so— early... what are you doing up?" I yawned midway through my sentence. I looked over at the small cat-shaped alarm clock on my floor next to my bed. It was six a.m., it's strange for anyone in the Todoroki house to be awake this early, even Dad.
"I'm starting U.A today. I have to go early or I might be late." Shō said, slipping into his uniform shirt. My eyes widened slightly before going back to normal as I looked down at my hands, entwining my fingers.
"Do you have to go..? I don't want to be left alone.. with... with him." I felt tears start gathering in the corner of my eyes. Shō looked down at me before walking towards me, bending down and putting a hand on my shoulder, making me look at him with my big, red eyes that Shō always said looked so pretty, yet so lifeless. I guess it's expected since I'm a Todoroki.
"[Y/N], you are strong. I'll be back later, I promise. If he hurts you, go to Fuyumi, I'm sure she'll help you. I know you're strong and you can take care of yourself, though." Shō said, pulling me into an awkward hug. I nodded and enjoyed his not too hot, not too cold embrace. Shō was one of the only people there for me anymore. Mom was gone after the 'incident'. I was only a year old when it happened and don't remember much that happened, only that one day Mom left with dad and never came back. Shō was hurt and had a bandaged eye, which I know know the cause of. After seeing him so cautious around kettles, it didn't take much to figure it out. I just wish I knew mom's reasoning. Fuyumi and Natsuo aren't home too often.

And now, Shō would be gone for hours at a time almost everyday. I'd be alone. Dad could do whatever he wanted with me. His cruel training, his harsh punishments. Nobody could stop him. Not that anyone could anyway. Shō always came in the training room once Dad came out to take care of me, although this time I'd definitely be left for longer. That was the cost of being the youngest sibling. Your older brothers and sisters were out of the house more, yet you were stuck, trapped in a seemingly never-ending nightmare.

Shō pulled away from the hug and stared into my eyes, smiling slightly. "If you need to talk, remember you have my phone number. I might not be free, so text me if you want to call. Okay?" I nodded again. Shō was such a wonderful brother, I hoped I could be just like him one day. I know he'll make an amazing hero. I believe in him.

The time rolled around where everyone started to wake up. Everyone sat at the table, on the zaisu mats, eating breakfast. I finished early and went to see Shō off, walking towards the door with him. I gave him one last hug before he left, mumbling 'Don't go', to which he replied
"I have to. But I'll be back later. Promise." I watched as he slipped on his shoes and left. I immediately ran towards our shared room, shutting the door and getting into my bed, hiding under the covers. It was about time for training. I wasn't ready. Not without Shō. That's when Dad came in. "[Y/NNNNNN]!" He shouted. I whimpered and cowered under the covers. No use. He ripped the blanket off me and grabbed me by the arm, dragging me up. "You know what time it is! Hurry up! You need training if you're going to be the number one or two hero!" I escaped his grasp and started walking towards the training room, rubbing my arm. I knew trying to escape was futile.

I laid in a pool of my own blood, vomit and tears. We'd been training for hours and Dad finally left me alone. I got up and stumbled, I'd hurt my ankle pretty bad. I figured it would be fine with a little rest, so I limped back to mine and Shō's shared room. I heard the door open and visibly flinched and covering my eyes before I felt familiar arms wrap around me. I instantly calmed down, hugging Shō back. "Did he hurt you?" He asked. I nodded and pointed towards my ankle, which be immediately checked. He sighed. "It'll be fine, just rest it." I smiled at him before laying down in my bed, my eyelids heavy. The last thing I remember before falling asleep is Shō, smiling at me and playing with my hair.
