SPIRIT!

College Cheercamp Part II

I was having a wonderful dream about me being successful and rich when I was abruptly awaken by my damn alarm. I stretched in my bed and looked over at Marco still sleeping. I grabbed some changing clothes and headed to the shower. Just as I expected, I had set my alarm early enough that no one was in the bathroom. I pulled back the shower curtain and turned the water on and adjusted it to the right temperature. I got into the shower, did what I needed to do and got out and dried off. By the time I got back into the room Marco was up.

"So we getting so food or what?", he asked.

"You already know....."

"Ok, let me wash up and then we can head out."

I waited as Marco got ready and then we headed to the cafeteria. The breakfast selection was so large and I got a little of everything. I received a text from Niecy that she was already in the cafeteria and had us a table. Marco and I headed to where her and her roommate Tamala were sitting.

"Ugh....how did you all sleep? Those beds are way too small and I have a cramp in my neck from how hard the mattress is", Niecy asked.

"I slept pretty well", I replied.

"I slept ok and hey if you have a cramp in your neck I am sure I can massage it out", Marco said to Niecy.

"Could you please.....", she asked.

As me and Tamala were eating like we have not seen food before. Marco got behind Niecy and started to massage her shoulders. She rolled her eyes back and then closed them as he took his hands and strongly massaged her neck.

"How does that feel?", he asked her.

"Damn good".

He finished up his massage and came back over to eat his food.

"Oh, Olen, how did that run go last night?", Niecy asked.

Before I could even answer Marco started to speak, "he did not even run that much at all last night. He came back to the room talking about how tired he was."

"Yeah I was just uh....exhausted and underestimated how sleepy I was", I said as Niecy studied me like she knew I was lying but she continued to eat.

We all began to chat about how we thought practice would go. I was nervous because I have heard Captain Torey pushes her squad hard. The others were kind of nervous as well. We continued to talk and then looked at the time and saw that it was time for us to go to the field for practice. We all lined up and I got to see just how many people were on the team. As I was standing I noticed another cheer squad walking past us and saw the guy I met up with last night. I almost passed out when he waved towards me but luckily he did not stop to speak with me. I looked down the our line of cheerleaders and saw Niecy smiling. She must have caught on and had validation that I did not go for that run last night. I slightly cut my eyes at her and then we saw Captain Torey approach.

"I see you all made it on time I am impressed but wait a minute......" Captain Torey stopped and counted. "We are one person short. Where is Gabriella?" We all looked around and saw a girl with long black hair running towards us.

"Sorry Captain but I ........"

"Don't......no excuses. Now since you are late the whole squad is to run three laps around the field and anyone who does not agree with me can do a lap back to their room and pack their things to go home. If we are a team we will suffer the consequences as a team", Captain Torey said.

We all looked at Gabriella in anger but began to run around the field. I was running pretty fast but decided to slow down and save my energy for the other two laps. Just as I was turning the corner Niecy came beside me.
