My generation, we were born into war. Giant monsters attacked our world. We called them Kaiju. They came through the Breach. A gateway to another dimension, at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean. They were sent by an alien race on the other side, the Precursors. We fought back, building our own monsters. Jaegers, giant robots. So big they needed two pilots to run them. My parents were two of them. They nearly died closing the breach to save the world. It's been 10 years since we won the war and closed the Breach. Most of the world's recovered. But a few coastal cities never did. And the world is still, picking up the pieces.
I myself wound up enlisting in the Academy, seeing as how both my parents were heroes I figured why not enlist. Dad was promoted to Marshall and mom found herself training at the Academy, so I see more of her than I do of him. And then there's my baby sister. She almost ten now and she runs around the base causing trouble half the time. My poor mother can't keep tabs on her most of the time. It's usually because she is looking for me though. There might be a five-year age gap, but I love my little sister and part of me wishes she didn't have to grow up like this. But I guess it is better than living in a relief zone.
I'm only a few months away from graduating and I am so excited to become a ranger. My hope is to pilot Gipsy Avenger as my parents did during the war. I just hope that the war is actually over and that the Kaiju aren't going to come back. I don't think the world could handle another war with the Kaiju.
