Chapter 5: Laura
"Hurry up!"
"I'm coming, I'm coming!" Mia calls back before sliding in the back seat of my car.
"Hey Xavier, you got something to drink?'' I ask before Xavier hands me bottle of lemonade.
Then we're off to the mall, which surprisingly was not my idea, it was Mia's. Mia thought that it would be a good idea to show Xavier around. Personally, I think Mia has a thing for Xavier.
I ship it.
So I have decided to subtly yet forcefully make them fall in love. Just because I don't have a boyfriend anymore doesn't mean that Mia can't. I think that they would make a cute coup-
"Alexis!" Xavier says, snapping me out of my train of thoughts.
"Let's goooo." Mia adds.
"Yep, yup, yes.'' I reply before removing my keys and getting out of my car. When I'm out of my car I jog to catch up to Mia, Xavier and a friend of Xavier. I think I had Home ec with Xavier's friend, Tom last year. He kinda cute in a dorky way. But I am not ready to jump into a relationship, even if it would make Hunter jealous.
When I reach Mia I link our arms together.
"Mi, I'm kinda hungry do you wanna go to the food court?" I ask Mia.
"Sure, do you wanna go to Jet's?'' Mia replies. I nod, Jet's is a little stand in the corner of the food court, who made their 10 by 10 space look like a 50's diner. They have the best milkshakes, which is why it is our first stop on the Xavier tour.
"One amaretto milkshake please."
"Make that two!"
"Actually make it three.'' Xavier tells the cashier with a smile. In return the cashier gives Xavier a wink. before pressing a few buttons on the cash register.
"What school do you go to?" The pretty, blonde cashier asks Xavier with a flirty smile.
"I go to Williams, you?'' Xavier retorts with a smile.
"Really, oh my gosh me too, how come I've never seen yo-''
"Can I have a banana milkshake please." Mia interrupts. If looks could kill blondie would be six feet deep. The cashier returns the glare with equal fierceness.
"Are you two together or something?" The cashier asks.
"No.'' Mia retorts defeated. A triumphant grin appears on the cashier face.
"Well then, can I have your number?" The cashier asks Xavier.
"Sure do you have a pen?" The cashier gives Xavier a pen, then Xavier scribbles his number on a napkin and hands it to her.
After ordering our food we sit down at one of the tables. After a while Mia gives up trying to glare blondie to death. Then to my surprise Tom speaks up.
"So, Mia we're in AP History together right?''
"Yeah, do you have a partner for the Renaissance project yet? Mia asks looking up at Tom through her eyelashes.
Welp, there goes the Xavier crush I guess, and with that my ship. Well whatever new ship I guess, hash tag Tia or Mom. NO not mom that would be weird. Shudder. Xavier gets up to talk to blondie leaving me alone with the lovebirds. Using this as an opportunity I look at the list.
No. 3: Get a pet.
I always wanted a dog... Maybe a can milk the break-up to talk mom into it. I grab my phone and start constructing a text for mom.
Dear Mommy, you know how I always wanted a dog and I know that you wanted one too... And with the break-up I think that having a cute fluffy ball of happy around would really help. You wouldn't want me too become one of those sad people who only sits around the house and cries, eats ice cream. And eventually becomes so obese that they never go to college and stay with their mom for ever. Right? And I promise that I'll feed, him and walk him and love him. I'll even pay to get him! So dear mommy can I please get a dog?
And send hopefully it's just enough guilt, threat and promises that she'll let me get a dog. I'll name her Bailey and I can get her a cute necklace. And if necessary I can sick her on Hunter and Sam. Ping! I received a text. Fingers crossed.
"fine."
"Oh my god. OH MY GOD! I'M GETTING A PUPP-''
Oh god, I did not just say that out lou-. Oh god. Mia, Tom and the rest of the mall are staring at me. While Xavier is just looking at me with amusement. Good job Alexis. Real good job.
When we're in the car Xavier is still laughing at me, Mia is still flirting with Tom and I'm still telling Xavier to shut his trap.
"I will end you!" That shut him up. Nope still going. Still going strong. Of course he is. After dropping Mia and Tom off it's just me and Xavier. I get out of my car and while we're walking to my door I ask;
"So, you and blondi- the cashier." I ask eyebrows raised.
"Blondie's name is Katie and she's nice."
"Meaning?" I ask eyebrows raised.
"She kind of scares me."
"Same here." I say before getting my keys out of my purse. Xavier starts walking away but just before he's at his door he speaks up.
"Hey Lexi, I had fun today."
I can't help but smile.
