A single torch lit up the cliff side, as I followed the girl who had saved my life (not really, I can't technically die as a goddess, but I would've still been harmed) into a dimly lit cave leading onto a bridge over the river below us.
The girl before me walked over to a nearby chest, as I stood a few feet behind her, still confused as to who she was or what was necessarily happening.
I watched as she put a small dark object from the chest into the bag hanging off her belt, as she turned back to me.
She lent out a hand towards mine, "Petra"
It took me a second to realize she was introducing herself, but one I did I put mine towards hers.
"Hunter. Hunter Winroux"
"Well then Hunter Winroux" she sat down on the chest "You aren't from here, aren't you?"
"How could you tell? Was it the shirt mentioning New York, or the seventy feet of hair?" I remarked, starting to get a little more comfortable with her now that I knew her name.
"Both" She replied "Might I ask why you have over seventy feet of hair" She sarcastically remarked back at me, getting up off of the chest.
"Two words for you: Strange Crystals" I answered.
Petra looked at me with an expression that easily translated to "Should I even ask?"
"Trust me" I said "I don't understand either"
"Well then" she shrugged "I'm guessing you want to go back home to your realm now?"
I looked at her, a sense of confusion displayed on my face.
"You know about the realms?" I stood confused "Wait, how did you know I even came from another realm?"
She looked at me, her brown eyes staring into mine
"For starters," she started, moving her hands to her hips "Pretty much everyone here knows of the realms, secondly, one of my best friends is from New York, so it's not hard to put two and two together"
"You have a friend from New York?" I asked.
If she had a friend from New York, then that friend had to have realm scissors, which meant that I could get back home!
"Yeah" she replied "I could introduce you to him, he would probably be more than happy to help you out with the situation"
She must have noticed the ecstatic look on my face, because she began to speak again before I could ask if she could take me to him.
"But" she paused "You have to do a favor for me first"
I sighed, I should've known it wouldn't be that easy. I looked at her, as she began pulling out the dark object from before out of her bag.
"Do you know what it is?" She looked at me, in her hands was a small dark grey skull, it looked as if it had been covered in ash.
"It's... a skull" I replied, confusion in my voice.
"It's a wither skull" she answered "I have a deal later tonight, I'm going to be trading it later for a diamond"
"And..."
"And I want you to help me out with it," she replied, putting the dark skull away in her bag.
"Why are you trusting me with this" I asked her "We only just met fifteen minutes ago
She sighed, "I don't have to be a genius to tell whether someone seems trustworthy or not, and you don't seem like someone who would stab me in the back" she replied "Plus, you seem intimidating enough to help with a back alley deal"
"That seems fair enough" I looked towards her, as she gestured towards me, walking towards the bridge.
"So" I began to ask, following her onto the bridge, "where exactly is this deal taking place?"
"It's just in town, which isn't that far ahead" She gestured towards the area of civilization I had noticed before, the rainbow beacon stood out even more as the sky had become darker.
I looked up at the moon above us. Back in my realm, it was permanently in the shape of a crescent moon. Thinking about it had me homesick, making me wonder what was happening back there.
My mother and Arcas must have been worried sick, and I'm sure my father wasn't aware of my disappearance yet.
Suddenly, Petra stopped walking. I came to a halt just in time so that I didn't bump into her.
I looked from behind her, and noticed the problem.
Ahead of us, was a group of zombies and skeletons, making their way towards us.
"Crap" Petra swore under her breath, we'll have to go another way.
"Yeah... about that" I replied, gesturing towards the direction we had come from, where several other monsters made their way towards us.
I looked around, trying to develop some sort of plan.
We could attempt to fight the monsters surrounding us, but that might just be a suicide mission, leaving us helpless.
Unless...
I looked down at the river below us, the current seemed weak. It seemed deep enough to jump into, and shallow enough to not drown.
"We need to jump!" I shouted to her amongst the monster noises.
"ARE YOU INSANE?" Petra yelled back to me.
"Maybe!" I yelled back "But this insane girl might just have a plan that will be most likely to not kill us"
"WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY MOST LIKELY-" Before Petra could finish her sentence, a loud hissing came from behind us.
As I turned around, I only caught a brief blur of green, as the bridge blew up.
Sending the both of us off the bride, down into the river below.
