My mom brings the food from the kitchen to our dining table, the roast being placed right infront of me, which I must say was a good tactic for getting my eyes off of Taehyung.
The whole time we waited for the food, my dad and the Kims were just speaking about god knows what.
I got bored obviously and Taehyung clearly wasn't going to start a conversation, so I decided to go on my phone and see if i received any text messages.
Like always, my phone had no notifications which was expected. I mean I have no friends, just classmates and barely have anyone's phone number.
So then i decided to chill on wattpad for a while until my mom came back with the food. Taehyung was unbothered too since he had taken his phone out.
From what I've gathered so far, he's an only child, is a stuck up jerk and likes the colour black.
Pft I couldn't relate. Even if i were to spark up a conversation, I'd probably stutter and embarrass myself since I'm not used to talking to new people.Welp, silence it is I guess.
Finally all the food was here and I was ready to dive into it. Quite literally.
My hand reached out for the roast, but my mom laid her eyes on me, and I could practically see the laser beams in them telling me to retract my hand and let them take it first.
Gosh, she acts like I'm not human.
Just as I'm about to move my hands back, Mrs Kim tells me to carry on
"Oh no honey, carry on there's plenty for all of us!" she laughs
"aha I'll do that" I reply
Smiling, I reach forward and grab a piece of chicken, and pour some gravy on it, adding a side of vegetables.
I watch as Taehyung does the same, and see as the silver bracelet on his wrist dangles.
This bracelet we all have. I mean every person must wear this bracelet since it supposedly 'protects' us from unknown diseases. I've heard there's a lot of diseases going round lately and thank god we have this on, so we won't be able to catch it.
He seems to be annoyed at it tho, shoving his sleeve down so that it's covered.
That's odd.
Why does he want to hide it? I mean it's nothing to be ashamed of, everyone has it.
Pushing aside my thoughts, I dig into my food.
"So I hear that your quite good at painting, Rosa" says Mr Kim
Looking up with my mouth full, I nod shyly.
Mrs Kim's face brightens and my parents decide to praise me.
I'm not complaining I mean, but it's kind of embarrassing.
"Why don't you go and get one of your paintings dear" my mom tells me
I glance at Taehyung to see him looking unbothered.
Hmphf, I get up and run to my room to grab a painting. There's a variety to choose from and I stand there contemplating for a while.
10 minutes later and I'm still standing here.
Suddenly I hear footsteps and my door opens.
"Your mom told you to hurry-" Taehyung's voice carries off as he looks around my room with wide eyes
There are paintings varying from flowers to faces, colours from vibrant yellows to dull greys, and canvas' a5 to a1.
"hmm not bad" he states
I just stare at him, then cross my arms when I remember that he wasn't really paying attention at dinner.
"well, I need to choose one"
He walks around the room, and picks up the one where there's a hand holding a dying flower. This one I actually do like, the textures and colours on it are very unique and different from my usual style so I agree with him and take it from his hands.
Well try to take it from his hands.
He pushes it behind his back, and I narrow my eyes trying to get it back.
"oi give it to me" I say
"nah I think I'll keep it" he repliesI struggle to get it from him for about 2 minutes until I give up and allow him to bring it down.
We walk downstairs together and enter the kitchen, our parents chatting about how Donald Trump is such a bad president.
Taehyung walks up to the table and shows every one the painting piece and they all seem to like it.
"how talented"
"this is lovely"
"omg could you paint something for me"
I just laugh and nod my head. This dinner doesn't seem to be going as bad as I thought it would be.
