Chapter 8 - The Exhausting Day

I woke up around 10 in the morning and soon realized I'll be late. I made a mad dash in the shower and get myself ready. Thirty minutes later I called a cab hoping I'll get to our meeting place quick. But New York is the busiest city here in US all I have to do is accept my sister's lecture. Ten minutes in the cab lane waiting I finally hopped in and instructed to go at Starbucks in 5th avenue.

The aroma of the coffee shop hit my nostrils as I entered and ordered my usual drink. Then I heard my name was called same time I saw my sister sitting near the window. She waved at me and I made my way on our table.

"Hey my preggo sis! How's the bun in the oven going? You didn't make me sleep last night now I'm having a big circle under my eyes. Good thing they created cucumber. Thank God!" I hugged her.

"Well the babies are fine always craving for peanut butter and strawberry. Then Zac goes over protective it's like I'm not allowed to do anything!" She complained with a little irritation.

"He is just looking after you and the baby." I speak up before she gets mad.

"Stop with the guilt." She sipped her frap.

"Wait! You mentioned babies are you saying---" I recalled her words.

"Yup! I'm having twins!!" She confirmed.

I squealed then few people turned their heads to us like we are crazy but we don't care.

"What the F--" I realized I can't say it.

"What did I say about cursing?" My sister raised an eyebrow.

"Relax as if the babies know what's the meaning of F---" I didn't finish the word because she shoved the pie in my mouth.

Goodness!! This is what hormones can do with a pregnant woman!

"One more from that word and I swear to holly molly. I will shove this whole plate including the fork." Shannen threatened me.

"Ok Mother Theresa I'll behave for my nephews/nieces sake. Anyways what was Zac reaction?" I started questioning.

So she narrates everything again from the scan till the work issue.

"I think he does have a point Sha it's too risky especially you're having twins. You are so lucky to have Zac around not a lot of guys are like him." I complimented them.

"You might find one soon." She smiled.

Before she can think of anything to say I changed the subject.

"I still can't believe the grumpy troll apologized to you." It was my term for Zac's father.

"Yeah I think he meant it Sher. Mom talked to Zac and same thing happened you know." She reminds me.

"Is it apocalypse days? Or maybe they both wake up from the wrong side of the bed three days ago." I giggled.

"It seems weird though. Oh well at least there's no more issues between them. The only thing left is between you and Mom." She sighed.

"Let's leave that for now." I dropped the subject.

After having brunch we went to Mall and do some shopping for her new maternity clothes. We talked about my life in Italy, the exhibit and my break up with Ben. After endless shopping we are finally done and heading to the parking lot to take her home.

"Give me your key." I demanded.

"I can manage to drive us home." She didn't hand the key.

"Oh no you don't Missy. First, I'm older than you for two years." I raised my two fingers.

"Thanks captain obvious." She mocked me.

"Second, you're pregnant and I can see you're tired. Third, if I don't get you home safe I might begin digging my grave. You know how Zac is he will strangle me for sure so if you don't want to see your dear sister ten feet off the ground better give me that." I finished then grabbed the key fast.

"Fine what more I can do? You emotionally blackmailed me and snatched the key." She sighed.

"Stop sulking and get in." I demanded her. 

"You are worse than Zac." She occupied the front seat.

Soon we arrived at their house and I parked the car. Few minutes later we saw Zac in the driveway as well and greeted us.

"Sherry, why don't you come on in for a minute?" Zac guides us to the door.

"Nah Zac I'm heading back to at the hotel I just dropped Sha. I already called a cab on the way so it will be here soon." I declined.

The truth is I'm avoiding their sweetness because it reminds me of how Ben used to treat me before.

"Oh okay. Thanks for driving her safe. Guess we will see you at the engagement party." Zac hugged me goodbye.

"Yeah just let me know. Call me when you finalized it I will be there." I hugged Zac back.

"I will miss you big sis. Take care of yourself." Shannen started to cry.

"I'll miss you too little sis don't worry about me just think of the babies health and yours." I'm having teary eyes as well.

We were still hugging when Zac speaks up.

"The cab is here." Zac pointed to the driveway.

"That's my ride! Zac take care of my little sis here or I'll take my first flight back here. I will kill you with my posh nails and make your handsome face as my mural." I joked.

"I don't even want to know how you will do it Sherry." Zac chuckled.

"Kidding Zac anyway I'm going. Love you sis. Keep in touch okay." I hugged them again.

"Love you Sher. Have a safe flight." My sister hugged me one last time.

I ride the cab back to the hotel and soon lay down straight to bed. Today was fun yet it drained all my energy from the shopping we had. But that's okay I don't get to have that sister's bond in Italy.

Speaking of it I sighed and thought of what to expect when I return home. In a week time I need to remind myself about my exhibit and my masterpiece is not yet done. Might as well spend the whole day tomorrow and find something that can inspire me. With the plan in my head I succumbed to my numbness.
