SHERINA POV
After reading Susanne's letter I was already crying. Ben was at my side soothing me while I'm holding the letter. I put myself together and speak up.
"Thanks for giving me her letter Ben. She's right I already accepted your apology but it doesn't mean I forget it." I meant it this time.
"I'll wait for you to finally forgive me or even just accept what I did." Ben lifted my chin.
"It's been a while and honestly I don't feel hurt anymore. For now let's just forget about it." I faced him.
"I guess that's better. What matters is you already accepted my apology that's more than enough for a start." Ben smiled.
"Thanks." I deeply meant it.
"No problem. I better go back to the funeral." He stands up.
"Can I come? I mean if that's okay with you. I wanna see her Ben." I grabbed his hand.
"Of course! I am sure Nonna will be pleased wherever she is right now." Ben faced light up.
"Ok give me some minutes I'll just change my clothes. You already know your way here so feel at home." I get myself ready.
Half hour later we are inside the memorial chapel. It was decorated with Grams favourite flowers and Eric approached me. Ben didn't leave my side especially when her mom came in and introduced me for the first time.
"Benjamin! Dove sei stato (Where have you been)?" His Mom called him while eyeing me up and down.
"I am already here no need to make grande affare (big deal) out of it." Ben didn't let my hand go.
"Si (Yeah) I can see quello che sta tenendo occupato (what's keeping you busy). Care to introduce me to your nuovo amico (new friend)?" She stretched the last two words."If you were around you'll know lei è un mio buon amico (she's a good friend of mine). Sherina, meet my mother, Liliana." Ben gestured his hand.
"I wonder if she's any different from any of your puttana passato (past whores)." Her rude comment directed at me.
I was shocked but still I keep my patience at bay maybe she thought I didn't understand but I wanna proved her wrong. This is the first time I met her and now I know why Ben seldom talks about his Mom.
"Mrs. Venoso piacere di conoscerti (nice to meet you). Your figlio (son) is right he is a good friend of mine." I fluently introduced myself in Italian.
"Will you excuse us Mother I will lead Sherina to Nonna." Ben left his Mom speechless.
"I'm sorry for her attitude Cara." He apologized for her.
"No worries Ben its fine but honestly I don't like the way talked. She insulted me I just reminded myself that she is still your mother." I complained like kid.
"It's okay I don't like it either. Now stop thinking about her and go to Nonna." He assured me.
After that incident I stayed for a little while and help assisting the guests. It was around eight in the evening when I decided to go home. Ben insisted driving me home but I declined it since I know he is busy. I was so worn out but I felt a lift was weigh off my shoulder. It could be the forgiveness I gave to Ben and somehow we get along again. For the first time I didn't feel any hatred against him.
