I continued to tell Renee about Zach. She listened attentively, not interrupting or cutting me off, which is a first for her. I could sense she was a changed being already.
"Marie. You haven't stopped smiling since they left. Are you okay?!" She shook me, almost as if I were in a hypnotized state.
"I am more than okay. How are you, pal?" I smiled, feeling my phone buzz in my pocket, "OH MY GOD RENEE IT IS HIM!! HE ALREADY TEXTED ME!!!" I squealed.
"REPLY REPLY! I'll tell you about Cooper after you reply," I could feel her looking over my shoulder at the text.
*Text From Zach*
Hi beautiful Marie. I just wanted to say it was my pleasure meeting you. I'll remember you for centuries ;-)"OH MY GOODNESS. RENEE. He just quoted Fall Out Boy. We're meant to be. We're getting married. No questions asked!!" I screeched; Renee laughed.
I was the last person to have ever been acknowledged as beautiful or anything of that sort, this was a rarity. I could not get over it. I continued to stand in the cold with Renee as she told me all about Cooper, the boy she had been with.
My phone buzzed again. I looked down and it was a phone call from Zach.
"Okay. So here's the thing. I'm on winter break, right? Cooper's parents are out of town, and we have free roam to do anything. I'm making him drive me around as though he is my chauffeur. I was just wondering if you'd like to continue our lovely conversation and introductions and backgrounds this Saturday in Millennium Park and a restaurant in Chicago." I could hear the Fall Out Boy music playing in the background.
"Uhm.. I can ask? I'm not sure what I am doing Saturday. Could I bring my friends along for this adventure?" I heard my voice crack.
"Of course, I wouldn't expect you to attend solo. That was Cooper actually asking if you could ask your friend you are currently with to attend to this. You can bring whoever you like with you. I would just love to continue our conversation in person and there's no place or anything prettier than Chicago except your eyes, of course!" I felt the heat in my face rise and I could feel the faint blush reveal itself.
"I don't see why that'd be any problem in my schedule considering the only people I'm with are Renee and our friend Lauren. I would definitely like to do this. I cannot wait. What time? Where should we meet exactly? Do we need to drive down there or should we take the train?" I was rambling. I tended to do that when my nerves caught up with my mouth.
"Marie. I will be in Chicago every hour Saturday. I will be in Millennium Park right by the steps of the Bean at approximately 11:40 A.M. If you'd prefer to take the train I will make Cooper pick you and your friends up from the train station and he can drive us all around. If you'd like to drive I will be waiting for you. It is completely up to you, beautiful" I felt the heat intensify even more.
"We'll take the train. Could you have Cooper pick us up? I will pay him!"
"That's my responsibility, Marie. I just cannot wait to continue our conversation in person. If you'd excuse me, Cooper is being annoying and turning the radio up as loud as he possibly can. I will see you bright and early Saturday, sweet-cheeks. Have a good day tomorrow and a swell rest of your night!" With that, the line went dead and Renee stared at me.
"Are you okay Marie?" I froze.
"I think that we're meeting up with complete strangers this Saturday. I think I'm losing my mind..."
I replied to Renee and then texted our friend Lauren informing her about the plans, just as my mother pulled up in the Target parking lot.
"Well girls, tell me all about it!!"
Mom, I don't know where to begin.
"It was everything I wanted it to be!" Renee and I both replied at the same time.A/N-
