🐯HOSHI BDAY SPECIAL🐯

a light knock came at soonyoung's bedroom door. he hummed and asked who it was without taking his eyes off his phone. the door swung open and soonyoung was greeted with warm candlelight filling his darkened room. "happy birthday to you..." jihoon's voice flowed sweetly from his lips as soonyoung could only sit there on his bed, hands clasped over his mouth while jihoon sang him a happy birthday. he also held a small, round cake in his own small hands; nicely and simply frosted in white, hand written lettering spelling out 'happy birthday, my love' along with a little iced out cartoonish tiger head.

"happy birthday, my darling... happy birthday to you." jihoon finished with a soft smile. sooonyoung made a wish, blew out the candles and placed the cake on his desk just so he could hug and kiss jihoon. "oh! oh!! thank you so much, baby." jihoon felt himself ascend from all the thanks and praises soonyoung showered on him. all because he sang one song and gave him one cake. soonyoung finally broke away from his last and final kiss (he promised) out of way too many and went to the kitchen with jihoon to cut and eat the cake.

"when did you get this?" soonyoung asked while jihoon divided the cake into slices. "mm, after that tour thing today i asked shua-hyung and seokmin to prep this- if they could- and let me know when they were done so i could go pick it up. i left the house just now and i knew you wouldn't notice." he served a slice to soonyoung, who took it gratefully, and got one for himself. the remaining was kept in the fridge.

the cake was so delicious and creamy and just hit in all the right spots. "fuck... never knew vanilla could taste this good." soonyoung cursed, making jihoon chuckle a little. a random question suddenly came to soonyoung's mind, "did you letter that and draw all that stuff on the top of the cake yourself?" jihoon chewed his forkful of cake before answering, "yeah, of course i wrote that myself. it would be weird if i got either of them to write 'my love' on it, don't you think?" soonyoung snorted. "but the tiger thing was seokmin's drawing. i think it's pretty cute. i like it." jihoon said, finishing his slice and dropping his plate into the sink. dishes can always wait. soonyoung nodded at the answers and agreed with jihoon, "yeah, it is kinda cute."

when everything was done and over with and the two felt sleep coming over them as they lay under warm blankets, jihoon felt compelled to ask one question. "soonie?" the other boy made a noise that signalled jihoon to continue. "what did you wish for?" soonyoung turned a little bit so jihoon could hear his tired voice better. "if i told you, it wouldn't come true. right? isn't that how it works?" jihoon agreed, "i guess so." "but i'll tell you anyway." jihoon was ready to hear something stupid, maybe soonyoung wished to be a tiger in his next life. who. knows.

but what the response he got hit him in his core.

"i wished that you and i are happy. happy with ourselves, happy with each other, happy together. i just wished that we could be happy and live as we wanted to. i wished that we have freedom to always smile, that nothing will tear us apart and make us sad. i wished that there's only smiles, laughter, joy and every single happy adjective out there... i just wished that they reserved some part of them for us." suddenly, soonyoung's arm was around jihoon and the most 'home' feeling spread throughout jihoon's body. so warm, so right.

"because i love you, jihoon. i love you so much. and you mean the world to me so... so i wished that happiness is the only thing we'll ever encounter as long as we live... you're my happiness. you're my everything." jihoon felt the lightest of kisses on his neck. "you're my everything too, soonie... you really are." he breathed out, voice a little shaky from the sudden depth of soonyoung's supposedly simple wish. "i hope you liked the little surprise. i know it's not much but i thought we should still have a celebration, no matter how small." soonyoung hummed in a happy tone, "i loved it, ji. you're the most amazing boyfriend i can ever dream of asking for. you're perfect, jihoon. i can never thank you enough for loving someone like me." jihoon made a noise, "'someone like you'? don't make me go on a rant about how perfect you are, kwon." soonyoung giggled, "alright alright. let's wrap this up, i'm so sleepy."

jihoon chuckled lightly, "alright then birthday boy, sweet dreams. happy 24th. i love you so much." he turned to press a kiss to soonyoung's forehead. "thank you for everything, ji. i love you too." soonyoung whispered.

finally, the couple fell asleep with tummies full of cake, hearts full of love and dreams filled with each other.

happiest 24th, my precious tiger prince kwon soonyoung. may only the most radiant of smiles and the most melodious of laughter make themselves known from your presence and may you shine bright always, as carats give you all the energy we have. i love you so much, my precious boy. i cant wait to see the work you've made on the 22nd. you're all i could ever ask you to be. you're truly my everything and more. let's hold our hands tighter together and run forward into a tomorrow filled with smiles and happiness.
