Paul tried to say goodbye but the line went silent before the words could come out. He sat the phone back on the receiver and stared at it. Your words played over in his head, so what if your life was full of drama, not like he had not experienced his share of it being in a rock n roll band and having a child with the queen of drama. "What can I do to show this girl I'm not gonna leave at the smallest thing?" He asked out loud, pacing the small hotel room. He needed out of that room, fresh air, and time to think. Changing quickly he grabbed his hotel key and wallet slamming the door behind him.

He had barely made it to the elevator when he heard Gene's voice. "Hey Stanley, wait up for me" Paul sighed and turned around as Gene walked up to the elevator. "Whats up Simmons? Did you need something?" he asked, fingers crossed that he didn't. " Well since you have been MIA since that show in Oklahoma, I was hoping my best friend would like to have lunch and just pal around," Gene asked. Sighing " Sure Gene let's go grab a bite, but the minute you start picking up women I'll leave your ass wherever we might be," Paul said pointing his finger at Gene with a mock-serious look on his face. Both busted up laughing getting on the elevator.

You both walked into the pizza restaurant next to the hotel going straight to the back to be less noticed if the place became more pack and a fan noticed you two. Paul trying to keep the waitress focused on taking the order by asking questions pertaining to the menu, but Gene seemed to have another idea. Grabbing his menu Paul leaned across the table and smacked Gene on the head. " Hey what the hell man " Gene shouted and glared at him. Paul gave a smirk and they both finished placing their orders. Paul shaking his head knowing something would never change.

"If you are planning to have dessert after we finish here." Paul said laughing as he pointed at the waitress "Let me know so I can beat you back to the hotel". "Aww, what happened to you being my wingman" Gene pouted. "Well for one this isn't the 70s anymore, and choosing this restaurant helped you pick up her so my job is done." Paul smiled. Their food came quickly and they both sat in silence for a while enjoying their meals.

"So since the last two dates are now postponed, what's your plan? Gene asked, trying to pry information out of Paul. He wasn't taking the bait, "Just going home to rest, spend time with Evan and try to get back to normal life." Paul cocking his head sideways looking at him. "No quick stops before going to California, say to see that hot chick you were with," Gene said with a smirk. Paul stood up and put money on the table to cover the tab and tip. "Let's go, man, we need to head to the hotel and find out when we are flying home," Paul said walking toward the door. "I'm gonna stay back for a bit," Gene said. Paul waved his hand and headed out the door.

Shaking his head as he took off down the road to the hotel. Somethings would never change especially with Gene. He couldn't give Gene an answer to his question because Paul didn't know what was quite going on yet, though his hopes were high for a positive outcome. Hitting the hotel and going up to the band's floor he stopped at the tour manager's room to see if there was any update on when they would be leaving. As he went to knock on the door he thought about how Rick and their manager had woken him up that morning. Pounding on the door over and over again until he heard Rick mumbling as he approached the door glaring at Paul.

"Hey buddy, You got any update yet on when we are leaving yet, or have you just been sleeping? You look like you got woken up." He asked with a grin. " Very funny Paul, we are leaving at 9 am to head back to California," Rick said looking annoyed. Paul gave him a thumbs up and headed down the hall to his room to start packing up. One last thing that would need to be done in the morning. Sitting back on the bed, he mindlessly looked at the tv lost in his own thoughts. He reached for the phone to call and let you know that the tour had ended. Paul's main reason was he just wanted to hear that you were okay.

Dialing the number and listening to the continuous ringing, finally, the line was picked up but not by the person Paul thought it would be. The raspy hello shocked him for a moment and he lost his voice for a moment.

"If this is a prank call, I will find out who you are" the woman on the other end of the line snapped. Clearing his throat Paul finally found the ability to speak again, "Hey sorry about that, I was wondering if Y/N was available to talk. This is Paul. he sat there with fingers crossed hoping you would be on the line soon. "Oh you're the one that left the voicemail, the one Y/N was clearing her head with." He heard the muffled yell of your name and the phone being picked up, but it was your mom that was back on.

"Yeah Paul, it doesn't seem like she's home right now, "You want me to give her a message or a time to meet you for another session" the woman snickered. He took a breath and wiped his face, remembering he had to keep his anger in check because it could end up bad for you. "No that's okay, I'll just call her tomorrow. Paul said hanging up the phone before there was a reply. His nerves started to get the better of him as he drifted off to sleep. His mind remained on the thought of needing to know you were safe.
