4: coffee dates

“Jeongyeon-ah, are you going somewhere?” Jihyo exclaimed.

Jeongyeon didn't bother to look up while she's busy preparing for her coffee date with Nayeon. “Yeah. I don't know what time I'll be back.”

The other members were fully shocked with Jeongyeon's attitude.

“Just.. don't bother her.” Mina added. “A lot of things are going through her mind, and she needs this break.”

Meanwhile, Jeongyeon already left for the day and started messaging Nayeon.

Yoo Jeongyeon: Nayeonie!

Yoo Jeongyeon: I'm on my way now.. are you still going..?

“Ah, I guess she'll still go. She's not that kind of person.”

As she walks through the streets, she started seeing paparazzis coming her way. Good thing she is disguised well.

As soon as she enters the coffee shop..

“Jeongyeon-ah! You're late! I've been her for about an hour now!”

“N-Nayeon?”

“Hi! Nice to finally meet and see you in person!”

“H-Hi.. I'm sorry I had to make you wait an hour. I thought I was early..”

Nayeon giggled. “It's okay. Please, have a seat.”

Jeongyeon seated right in front of Nayeon. She could not believe her eyes. Is she developing a crush on her idol-rival?

“So..” Nayeon started. “..how are you doing? You seem pale and stressed.”

Jeongyeon shrugged. “I'm okay, I guess. Work is just as hectic as it can be. And you? I see your new song just charted #1 on all music platforms. Congratulations!”

“Aw, thank you!” Nayeon sighed. “Well, I'm happy getting all of these recognitions.. but I sure am as stressed as you guys are. I just hope I have a group of friends to hang out whenever I'm alone.”

Jeongyeon looked at Nayeon for a good 15-minutes, and she blinked. “I'm s-sorry for staring too much.. I just can't believe I'm seeing you f-for real.”

“Ahhh, you're cute!” Nayeon shrieked. “Let's go for a walk shall we?”

“Aren't you going to cover up?” Jeongyeon timidly asked.

Nayeon laughed. “I will if I want to. I'm sick of cameras following me around so I tend to pose at them like an award show.”

Jeongyeon laughed like crazy as they walked through the nearest park.

“I'm curious..” Nayeon exclaimed. “Are you happy that you're an idol?”

“I dreamt of debuting since I was a kid. Of course, I'm happy. I get to help my parents since they took care of me their whole lives.” Jeongyeon smiled. “Plus I get to be friends with my members, and also you..”

Nayeon looked at Jeongyeon. “That's great! I hope your group tops #1 at all music platforms too. Can't wait to buy your albums!”

Silence.

It was so defeaning.

“Jeongyeon?”
