" I mean he broke up with me and when I asked him why he said it was because he was in love with someone else. I asked him who it was and he said Sofia. Just like that and walked away."
She let out a loud sob." You must feel so great knowing that you can get all the guys in the academy. But that wasn't good enough for you was it? You had to get my boyfriend!"
"You think I wanted this. To take away Jacob of all people. I would never choose a boy over you. And a lot of guys like you. If you think you need Jacob to be happy you are wrong."
"You don't understand. Did it ever occur to you that maybe I do need him to be happy. I am still in love with him. But the love of my life doesn't love me back. Instead he loves my best friend." She holds her head in her hands and runs her hands through her hair. She has done that when she is nervous since as long as I can remember.
"Maybe right now you do think that you need him to be happy. But I hope you will come to see that I am going to be right here for you the entire way through. I am right here Abby and I always have been." I smile down at her knowing it somehow consoled her. I reach out my hand to bring her along. She raises her eyes to my face. She forces a smile but it's still better than nothing. She takes my hand and we walk to our next class that we have together.
