A WEEK HAD GONE by since Juliette had recieved word that the Dark Lord would take her on, but there was no follow up. Left in suspense, each morning she sat at the breakfast table in front of a spread that was wonderful - pastries, fruit, sausages, rashers... you name it, it was there - but as always, she was preoccupied with the owl post. As students began to tuck into the food on this particular day, owls flocked in overhead with parcels and papers in their beaks, dropping them swiftly in front of the recipients below as usual.

Today however, a white envelope fluttered onto Juliette's plate, and she looked at it apprehensively. There it was. She had the feeling that it would not be a letter she would be pleased to recieve - well, there was no follow up to the last note that could possibly be anything good. She opened it uncomfortably and began to read.

Chére Juliette,

You will be escorted back to the Lenoir Manor by your maid at approximately midday on Wednesday, 22nd of March.

You are needed here following the inquiry of your father's employer, regarding urgent matters-

Juliette saw the word 'employer' and shoved the letter back into the envelope so roughly that it split open. She felt the paper cut her finger and she dropped it back onto her plate, dread growing inside her. Her appetite left her and she blinked, looking out the long window in front of her, unwilling to think about that letter and what it meant.

Last night's moon was only just visible through the window. It was not quite full yet. Her eyes flickered over to the noisy Gryffindor table where a large group were eating their breakfast, and her gaze landed on the werewolf - the Gryffindor Prefect. He wasn't eating. Well, she supposed he would probably be feeling rotten, it being the full moon that night.

She watched as one of the others asked him something, to which he didn't reply. His eyes were fixed on the table in front of him and she noticed that every time someone laughed, he winced. He looked tired. She felt sorry for him. She couldn't imagine how much worse he would feel once the sun went down. When she looked at the sky again, the not-quite-full moon from last night had vanished from view. She returned to watching the Prefect, noticing that he closed his eyes occasionally as though he couldn't keep himself awake.

Suddenly, as Juliette watched him, she caught someone beside the Prefect watching her. The boy in question frowned for a fraction of a second, and then gave the person next to him a subtle kick under the table without looking away. Juliette spotted this and averted her eyes quickly. Even from her tiny glance, she had seen who he had kicked. Sirius Black. She didn't look up again.
