𝐒𝐏𝐀𝐑𝐄𝐃━━twoLuke's eyes went wide. This wasn't supposed to happen; the plan was for them to get in, hand over the cash and get the information they needed. No violence needed. But here they were, guns aimed at a high school student.
"Who the fuck are you?" Michael asked again, slower this time. The girl's eyes were as wide as saucers as she remained motionless in front of the door. With the confused and anxious looks on their faces, Michael knew that the girl wasn't here because of the other group.
"L—the door." Calum used the nicknames they had for each other, the first letter of their names, for these exact moments. When someone who wasn't supposed to be around was, and got themselves caught in the middle of everything. Luke nodded his head once and moved slowly to the door, gun raised.
The girl took a deep breath and raised her hands up in the air, cautiously looking at Luke who was making his way over to her. "Easy." He told her, and then showed her his free hand, palm facing her. He slowly leaned over behind her and shut the door. She watched him from the corner of her eyes.
"Easy now," He spoke softly and lowered his gun just enough to try and reassure her. There were still 6 other guns aimed right at her head though, so the gesture did very little to calm her frayed nerves. Luke took his free hand and curled it around her forearm.
The girl got a fright from the sudden skin on skin contact and instantly started to struggle, before Luke could even tell her to calm down and stay still, guns went off. It all happened so quickly, the opposing group fired first, their aim not the best in such a dark room but still managing to wound Calum.
He groaned in pain and gripped his calve tightly, "Dickheads." He spat and fired back. Luke's flight or fight instincts took over and he shielded the girl, placing his body in front of hers. If she was screaming, Luke couldn't hear her over the gun fire.
Michael had flipped a table and was bent over behind it, Calum limped over to the door that lead to the kitchen and Luke ran with the girl behind him over to where Michael was. "What the fuck!" Michael yelled to no one in particular and stood up to get a few rounds in. The other group wasn't stupid, they knew not to kill Michael and his two friends, but if they wanted to get out alive after firing first they knew they had to at least wound them.
"C!" Luke shouted out in the dark and looked behind him at the girl, she had her hands over her ears and her eyes were shut tight. He gripped her elbow in his hand and she shook in surprise just as Michael told Luke to get her out of there.
"Take her outside!" He ordered, still standing and firing at the last two men who were still inside. "Make sure he's okay." He was talking about Calum, and Luke didn't need to be told twice. With his hand still around her arm, he got her up on her feet and stood behind her as he guided her over to the door in a rush.
