The Text

Hailey's POV

Ater I got back from my trip everything went back to normal. Some things happen but nothing out of the ordinary. I kinda wish I was back in Swellview. I miss Charlotte and Piper. And Henry, and his beautiful brown eyes- and wait why am I thinking of Henry?!

"Hailey?! Hails?! Hails?!" shouts Trip waving his hand in front of my face.

"Huh? What?!" I say snapping out of my day dream.

"You were looking at the ceiling." says Hudson.

"Oh sorry. What are we doing?" I ask standing up.

"We are trying to test the new level idea that Babe came up with, called Groovetopia." says Kenzie.

"Oh cool." I say not really paying attention.

They begin testing the game. Trip starts playing the game and everyone was cheering him on. As the test was running I got a text. I gasp. It was from Henry.

H: Hey Hailey! Charlotte gave me ur number.

I spit out the water that I was drinking. Babe and Kenzie run over to me.

"Hailey what's wrong?" asks Babe.

I show them the text. Babe and Kenzie scream and pull me out into the lobby.

"Wait is that for real?!" squeals Kenzie.

"Yeah. I think so." I say looking back at the text.

"Do you know what this means?" asks Babe.

"No." I say giving them a strange look.

"Henry totally likes you." says Kenzie like it was obvious.

"And plus he kissed you." says Babe in a sing songy voice.

"Well you guys don't know that." I say being kinda stubborn. Like my mom used to tell me don't start something you can't finish.

"Uh yes we do." said Kenzie crossing her arms.

"As your best friends we are devoted to making sure you aren't lonely forever." said Babe.

"Gee thanks." I say sarcastically.

"Yeah this is the first guy that asked you out in the 15-ish years you have been alive." said Kenzie.

"Yeah, and it's because he likes you for you. Not because he thinks your brother is weird." adds Babe.

"I guess you guys have a point." I say sitting down.

Kenzie and Babe nod their heads simultaneously.

"So should I text him?" I ask frantically.

"Duh."

"Of course."

"Okay I'll do it." I say standing up.

We all huddle up and look at my phone.

"What should I say?" I ask.

"Uh maybe just something you would not say." suggest Babe.

"What's that supposed to mean?!" I say kinda offended.

"Just- give me your phone." says Babe snatching my phone.

"I'll just say, Hey Henry! Sorry I was meaning to text you but i was busy with work how are you?" says Babe.

"Ooh that's good send it." I say looking over her shoulder.

"Okay, we have to get back to work, Hailey, we are going to leave you out here so you can text Henry, and we are going to go back inside to test the new level." says Kenzie.

"Uh okay yeah sure." I say as I sit down.

Babe and Kenzie walk back inside as I stay outside in the lobby texting Henry.

A/N: Henry is going to be the uppercase 'H' and Hailey will be the lowercase 'h'.

H: It's okay. I'm doing good.

h: That's good.

H: Hey, I've been meaning 2 talk 2 u about something...

h: Uh, sure what about?

H: The thing we did, before u left...

h: oh yeah...

H: I've been thinking a lot about it.

h: me 2.

H: really?

h: yeah...

H: so what did u think?

h: personally I liked it, but it can't be anything more than that.

H: why not?

h: well first we live in different states far away from each other. And second I bet if you got o know me better you would like me anymore.

H: That's not true. I know you aren't just a pretty face. Charlotte has told me so much about u, I feel like I've known u as long as she has.

h: aw that's really sweet. but for now, can we just be friends?

H: ok

I shut off my phone and sigh. I think that I did the right thing, but why doesn't it feel that way? I decide to go back inside.

"Hey! Back so soon?" Asks Babe.

"Uh yeah, there wasn't much to talk about." I say as I sit down next to my brother.

"What are you guys talking about?"asks Hudson.

"Oh nothing, just a girl thing."said Kenzie.

"Gross."said Hudson standing up and walking up to Trip.

Me, Kenzie and Babe all glance at each other with weird looks on our faces.

We continue with the work we were doing and everything was just as it was, or so I thought.
