~DARRYL POV~

The blonde boy fiddled with his fidget cube as he laid down on the living room couch, legs resting on the coffee table in the middle of the room. He had been like this for the last 10 minutes, mostly because he had nothing else better to do. As for Zak and Vincent, they were out exploring the abandoned town, leaving Darryl alone to take care of the old Victorian house.

40 minutes have passed since Nick, George, and Clay left to get supplies for their group of friends, and if Darryl was being honest, he missed them a lot. A whole lot. Darryl couldn't stand being away from friends without knowing exactly where they were. It made him anxious, scared, worried. The terrifying feeling of not knowing his friends' surroundings haunted Darryl.

What scared him even more, though, was the feeling of knowing when something awful was going to happen, whether in history or to his friends. When those feelings came up, he'd try to fight as hard he could to end it, but alas he couldn't, because he never knew where it was going to happen.

Sadly, he couldn't control it. Many people have called him too "clingy" or "nosy," telling him to not worry and "mind his own business." Maybe those statements were true, but Darryl swore that never in a million years would he let anybody hurt any of his friends. Not after the first time.

It's fine. They're okay, Darryl, he tried to convince himself, but the gut inside of him kept telling him otherwise.

Darryl awoke from his thoughts at the sound of a creaking door coming from behind him. He shot up quickly only to realize it was just Zak and Vincent returning from their journey. He sighed a breath of relief, grateful that it wasn't a pack of zombies invading their territory.

"Woah! What's got you so worried?" Zak said, laughing at Darryl's reaction.

Slightly embarrassed, Darryl stared at him for a few seconds before answering.

"I was just surprised, okay. I didn't expect you guys to be back so soon," Darryl responded. "What'd you guys do?"

"We just explored the buildings and houses. Most of them were empty but-" Vincent explained before Zak interrupted him.

"WE FOUND A BAGUETTE STATUE" Zak spit out, unable to hold in his laughter.

Vincent started howling with laughter as well. "Yeah, we found a fucking baguette statue. Wanna see?"

"Language, you muffin. And sure," Darryl stopped, snickering a bit, "I'd love to see a baguette statue."

Zak giggled a little before grabbing a long bronze item from his duffel bag. Darryl immediately cracked up at the sight of seeing a long, baguette-shaped statue right in front of him.

"Wh-what??" he cackled. "Who would make a baguette statue??" Darryl choked, nearly spitting all over it.

"I don't know, but it's pretty epic," Zak remarked, laughing and placing the statue on top of the fireplace. "There, that's better."

A baguette statue on top of a fireplace. What a beautiful sight.

~GEORGE POV~

Silence filled the car as the 3 boys sat quietly in their seats. Since their departure, none of them said a word and preoccupied themselves with different things.

George spent his time reading one of the many Harry Potter books he snuck in his bag. Clay specifically said to only bring necessary things, but of course, George didn't listen. What was he gonna do in the meantime anyway?

Time passed by quickly and soon the car came to a halt in front of a supermarket. Clay and George exited the car and let their feet hit the smooth pavement. Staring at the entrance, George got an eery feeling that increased the more he stared at it. However, he brushed it off, seeing that it was too late to back out. Clay tapped him on the shoulder and snapped him out of his trance.
