That cloudy day, on the first day of school, they pushed me down and called me names, you were there to help me home.
The first time I rode a bike I fell down and skinned my knee. You were there with a band-aid ready just in case.
And as we both got older, you were always there.
The night of prom, when my date stood me up, you were there to dance the night away.
My first time to get drunk at some stupid college party, you were there to drive me home and hold my hair and make me coffee.
When my boyfriend of three years took a swing at me one night, you were there to knock him down and make him leave.
Although we didn't agree, you were there when we married one year later.
Everytime he supposedly worked late, you were there to listen and share reassuring thoughts.
The day I found his texts and read his emails, you were there at my door with a shoulder to cry on and your open arms that made me feel so safe.
I love you more than words can say, I love you because you were always there and because you continue to be.
