Zane focused on Abby for no longer than a few seconds before his eyes rolled and he passed out again. For those few seconds Abby registered both regret and pain in Zane's eyes. Since the change Abby's feelings had been out of control, most of the time she felt nothing, but when she did it sometimes became too overwhelming.

Abby squeezed her eyes shut as she thought back to the last time she had saw her brother, the day his father had killed her. Zane had admitted he had known all about Abby and her mother all along, he had resented the fact that Abby had grown up with their mother and had told The Creator about her.

Because of Zane's actions Abby's mother had been killed and her death still weighed heavily on Abby's shoulders. When Abby had regained her senses after being turned her thoughts had only momentarily stopped on Zane, not wanting to relive the pain. And now here he was, he had been found.

Abby looked closely at her brother, she could hear his heartbeat, it was slow and irregular. Zane had suffered badly, there was at least a hundred cuts over his body. Abby wondered briefly why he wasn't healing but six months of torture would probably do that to you.

The extent of Zane's injuries made Abby wonder at the fate of her father and Jarrod, a sudden sense of loss and pain made Abby cry out in anguish. The truck stopped abruptly, they had reached camp. Without a thought Abby flew out of the truck, running away from the pain and anger she felt.

Abby ran as fast and hard as she could, as if The Creator himself was chasing her. The scenery around her became a vivid blur. One of the perks of being a vampire meant Abby could run for days without even getting winded.

Abby ran until she had her emotions in check, until she could no longer feel the agony of her loss. Stopping to look around, Abby saw she was still in the forest; gracefully she jumped and landed upon a branch in the trees.

The branch was thick and sturdy, Abby sat with her back against the tree, her legs dangling either side. Abby feared the worst for Jarrod, he was no match for The Creator and Abby couldn't see a reason why they would keep him alive. Her thoughts of Jarrod became too painful for her and she had to block them out.

Abby knew Julius couldn't be killed so easy, but still she feared The Creator had found a way. Abby's gaze roamed in the direction of the camp, Zane was all that was left of her family now, but Abby had lost all trust in him. Abby was no longer the forgiving person she used to be.

Abby sat for a few hours, enjoying the peace it was bringing her. Abby contemplated spending the night, until Marcus interrupted her thoughts.

"We need you back here now Abby"

Groaning Abby rubbed her face with her hands, Marcus often reached out to Abby with his mind. Since she had awoke her mind skills were the one thing Abby could handle with ease. It was an easy task for her to reach out to others; Abby needed no bond to communicate.

"I know you heard me, don't be a child, no more sulking"

Abby smirked; Marcus was getting braver by the day. "Fine" she huffed back telepathically.

Jumping down from the tree, Abby raced back to the camp. Abby made it back in less than five minutes, there wasn’t much of the night left so the camp was quiet. Heading straight for Magda’s tent Abby saw Marcus pacing outside. Marcus moved to stand in front of her.
