Candle King (Roman angst)

Chapter 2: The fire

~Roman's POV~

    All I heard was toddlers cries growing louder and louder, and Pride was relishing untestable power, he was glowing red in a black and white scene in my mind. And before I knew it, I was sitting in my own mind while I watched what Pride would do to them, not like I cared though. He went downstairs to Patton and Virgil, but when they looked at 'me' they were shocked. I was in a completely different costume, and I was wearing a gold crown. But before they could say anything, Pride lit the living room on fire. Stoking the flames to go higher and higher, they looked at Pride with fear in their eyes "b-but you're supposed to be royalty! Royal people don't set things on fire!" Patton said and Pride chuckled "Yes I'm royalty, but with a crown of fire!" putting more of the living room in fire, setting it ablaze and it looked like an extravagant scene. "Who are you?" Virgil asked, trying not to breath in too much smoke. Pride smiled "I'm the one and only, Candle King!" he said with a lot of enthusiasm.

    He was about to set them on fire when Remus came in "Ah, but there's hope for you still, before it all comes unfurled. You just need to chill, it's not the end of the world" he said and Pride looked at him in sadness  "I just can't help but feel this way, I lost my true self long ago, and all of my friends have been pushed away because caricature is all they know" Remus looked at him "please Ro, I know you are still in there. Come out, and no one gets hurt" I almost wanted to take back control, but I didn't because I know Pride's too strong for me. The fire dies down a bit before coming back to life as Pride drew his sword "no! Roman doesn't get to have control back!" he said as he swung the sword towards Remus. Remus dodged it and summoned his mace "I didn't want to do this, but alright" he said before swinging his mace at me.

    But instead of hitting me like Pride thought he would, he made it disappear and used his magic to tie me up. He sat me on the ground and knelt down so we could make eye contact "I will ask you one more time, give my brother control and no one get's hurt" he shook his head "never!" "fine have it your way then" he said as he put me the Sides Dungeon "rethink your choices Pride, and maybe I'll let you go" Remus said as he closed the door, leaving me and Pride alone.
