Arabella's POV
"Louis danced with me, then we almost kissed, then he ran off! Did I do something wrong? He probably thinks I'm going too fast. What do I do!" Yaz sputters. I raise my eyebrows."Slow down. What happened?"
"Louis happened. He asked me to dance!"
"And you said yes?" I ask. So much for "not liking each other".
"Obviously. And then we had a moment, and I tried to kiss him."
"Okay then. Great. So what's the problem?"
"He ran off! I probably misinterpreted him. I can't do anything right!" Yazmin wails, running into my arms. I step back, surprised.
"Shh, shh. How about I go talk to him, and you go get some chocolate cake. Chocolate fixes everything," I say. She nods, wipes away a tear, and runs to the tables. I take a deep breath, then go to find Louis. I always sort of imagined them together, but now that it's actually happening, I realize they are polar opposites.
Louis is outside of the ballroom, leaning on a wall, his face in his hands. "Louis, what's wrong?" I ask him.
He looks up, and I see his tear-stained face. I rush over to him, causing him to groan, roll his eyes, and look back down. "Go away, Ari."
"Why are you crying?"
"Ugh. I don't want to talk to you. Go talk to Yaz or something," he groans, then turns around and walks towards the guest quarters.
I march around him to block him. "What happened with Yaz?" I demand.
"I asked her to dance, then tried to kiss her," he explains.
"She already told me that," I reply, crossing my arms. "What did she do to make you cry?"
"I-ugh!" He shouts. The tears start falling again. I take another deep breath, then wrap my arms around him. This surprises him, but he relaxes.
"Shh. Deep breaths. In through your nose, out through your mouth," I whisper. He starts to calm down.
"I think I stepped over the line. We've only been talking for a few days, and then I tried to kiss her. What if I went too fast?"
"Relax. I just talked to Yaz, and she is worried that she went too fast. And as for talking for a few days, she's liked you for years! She tries to hide it, but it's kind of obvious. I'm surprised you haven't noticed."
"Years?" He asks. I nod.
"Yes, years," I confirm. "Now since everyone goes home tomorrow, I suggest you march right out to that dance floor and ask her to dance. Make the most of tonight," I tell him, grabbing his shoulders, and steering him back towards the ballroom. He starts protesting, but I give him a glare and that shuts him up. Once inside, he slowly walks over to Yaz. They talk, then walk towards the dance floor. I smile.
"It seems your friend and your cousin are getting along well," a voice says.
"Killian! Don't scare me like that!" I protest, shoving him a little. "First of all, her name is Yazmin and his name is Louis. Second of all, yes they are getting along."
"Do you think they love each other?"
"They definitely like each other. As for love, I think we will have to wait and see."
"They certainly look in love." He gestures to the dancing couple.
"As I said, we will have to wait." I walk over to a table with caramel apples. Killian follows me. We each take an apple and continue talking through bites.
