Prologue
The slam of the door echoes in the cold, darkened room. The little girl flicked the light on, and with excitement in her steps, hops over to the cage.
"Jiki!! I brought some snacks!" Naturally, the owner of the name didn't respond. The girl opened the door and picked the albino rat from it's cage, giving it a loving kiss before putting it down.
"You're my favorite, Jiki. But don't tell that to Daisuke and Kimi." She had a cheeky smile on her face as she softly pet it. Not much later snacks clattered on the once sterile table, which attracted the red-eyed rodent.
It knew that the next time it would be touched it would start feeling strange again. The girl always came here for that.*
"There we go."
What Jiki, as a lab rat, didn't know however, was that the girl had a very special ability. Skilled with being able to rewind a living thing back to anytime in it's existence. So no matter how old Jiki got, or how young she was turned back to, the girl would always get her rats back to the age they were before she entered the room.
"Eri!! Where are you?" A voice from behind the door chimed. The girl perked up. "I have to go do something very important now, Jiki." She whispered, dragging out the 'e' in 'very'. In a suddenly acquired hurry she picked the silver haired pet up as it was still eating and put it back in the cage.
"Eri?!" The voice outside continued. "Thank you for letting me practice on you, Jiki! I love you so, so, sooo~ much." The girl spread her arms as wide as she could, to illustrate her love for the pet.
Rushing out the door, she failed to notice that that would've been their last encounter. As besides Daisuke and Kimi's hearts, none others beat.
*note: Apparently rats are very smart. They have quite a good memory too, so that's why Jiki remembers the girl.
