"...but sato.. it's our anniversary."

y/n's voice could be heard on the other side of the call, tendou's ear pressed up against the phone. a heavy sigh left his lips, brows furrowing together as the male switched the phone from one ear to the other.

"i know, i know. im sorry. ill make it up to you."

satori flinched as he heard y/n sniffle, fully aware that by now she had tears streaming down her face.  he heard her intake of breath before she spoke again, "why is volleyball practice so important to you? you're not even going to play after highschool you said it yourself!"

"y/n"

she remained silent, tears streaking across her face and down her chin. she wouldn't say another word, not after he had canceled their six month anniversary plans for volleyball practice."i have to go now. i love you, and ill call when im finished. maybe you can come over and watch a movie."

before she could interject, the call was hung up, leaving her with nothing but silence through the speaker of the phone. her small hand clutched the phone tightly, hard enough that it could possibly break it had she been any stronger.

it wasn't the first time tendou had canceled plans, but y/n truly believed that he would have enough common sense not to cancel on a day like this. unfortunately, satori tendou didnt have common sense at all.

__

the following day at school was just like any other. y/n ate breakfast alone, and then walked to school. except, instead of waiting for her boyfriend at the school's entrance, she went straight to class, not wanting to see him at all. each class period droned on and on, until the ringing of the bell would draw y/n out of her own mind and she would slug her way to the next like some sort of zombie.

it wasn't until lunch did the girl even cross paths with tendou, due to them having opposite schedules. alone in the cafeteria she sat, chop sticks picking and pushing at her food because honestly she didn't have the energy to even eat. who would have thought that crying yourself to sleep could be so draining.

satori knew he was in deep shit when y/n didn't meet up with him in the morning. he had tried to look for her all day, but his efforts were all in vain because he knew that one regular day, he wouldn't even see her unless the effort was made. by the time lunch break had begun, he was desperate to find his girlfriend.

" gosh y/n ive been looking for you all day." he finally said, dropping his bento box down beside her and sliding into the seat. "well, you know where to find me so obviously you hadn't been lookin too hard." she replied, rubbing her red and puffy eyes with her sleeves before condensing all her belongings back into her lunch box and moving to stand. "hey– wait a sec-"

"wait for what tendou? for you to stand me up again? yeah, no thanks." she continued to stand, only stopping when his long digits wrapped around her forearm and halted her, "im sorry." he said quietly, eyes softening at just the look of her pitiful face. her bottom lip quivered, tears welling up in those beautiful eyes of hers. how he wished he could change what he had done.

"well you should be! i spent our anniversary all alone."

satori wasn't good with words, that much was clear. clearing his throat, he did the only logical thing he could think of.

"you are my sunshine~" he sang lowly. "satori do not-"

"my only sunshinee~ you make me happy ! when skies are greyy~"

"shut up."

"you'll never know dear, how much i love you~" his voice had risen now, gathering the attention of the people who had been sitting around. of course, he didn't care. and most of the students that attended shiratorizawa were used to his antics. y/n however, could never be used to such a public display of affection, her cheeks heating up more and more by the second. "okay , okay ! ill sit down." she then said, hoping it would get him to lower his voice and stop causing a scene. once she had sat back down, his body leaned towards hers, head nuzzling her neck and shoulder as he sang the rest quietly, "please dont take, my sunshine, awaay~.."

"satori tendou you are an idiot." she concluded, but couldn't help the stupid grin stretching across her lips, arms finding their way around his lean shoulders. "im really sorry i missed our anniversary. whatever you wanna do today, ill do it. "

that night, y/n had forced tendou to sit through one of probably the most cheesy romance movies he had ever seen. and then they went out to eat at her favorite restaurant, his treat, of course. but, tendou had his own plans of spoiling the girl as well. but even then, he knew, he could never truly make up for what he had done.
