Louie... where is Louie...
Even after a million phone calls and messages, he was nowhere to be found. Louie was the reason Athena had changed. She had gone from being a loud, angry person to a girl that would stick up for her friends... yet still not engage in any fights, or crime for that matter.
Louie was quiet and calm, timid even. One reason was that... well... he's just like that. Another reason being that he had an illness that ate away most of his energy.
But he's strong.
he'll survive.
He will win and he will never give up... Right?
The weather didn't matter to Athena, she ran, ran faster than wind, faster than a lightning bolt to metal pole. Her feet were tired and knees were already shaking, practically caving in beneath her. Did that stop her? The edges of small stones and shards of glass digging into her bare feet didn't stop her. The pouring rain weighing her clothes down didn't stop her. Her bloody and hurting knees never gave up on her as she kept on running. Run for Louie. Do it for him and nobody else, fuck the world I only need him to survive. She was close she could feel it. Her body moved in seemingly every direction as her brain repeated those words, over and over, as if that might change the tough reality she was facing. She didn't even have to open her eyes as she ran. She knew exactly where it was that she needed to be.
In a sudden moment she stopped and fell to her knees in front of a beautiful, small house with outdoor fairy lights and all sorts flowers scattered out on the porch. The time has come to open her eyes. And with that, they opened.
Red. Blue. Red. Blue.
The flashing colours of ambulance lights filled the scene. She felt her arms weaken and her heart tug, as if it was being ripped straight out of her chest.
This wasn't happening.
This couldn't be happening.
It was all just a bad dream. Wasn't it?
Louie was hurt. Athena got up, scraping her bloody, bruised legs on the ground and walking up to the front door of the house and aimlessly walking inside, dragging her feet on the ground beneath her.
Her ears filled with the sounds of paramedics shouting for tools and gadgets as well as sounds of his sisters shrieking and screaming in horror,
All they wanted was to see him.
Upstairs, the disturbed sobs coming from his mother could be heard.
The sort disturbed cries that tell you something tragic has happened.
And then there he was, needles and machines strapped and hooked up to him like pins in a potato.
For a second, her eyes locked with his mothers.
The nod. It meant it was over. he was over.
Her knees buckled beneath her, causing her to fall to the ground as she let out a cry of both pain and sadness. It felt like her body was failing her. It felt like her stomach was on a rollercoaster- the kind that make your head spin and trigger your gag reflex, as if her heart had dropped down to the pits of her stomach as was dissolving in the putrid green acid.
Tears stared falling freely from her eyes.
Goodbye my best friend, my brother from another family. My platonic love, I'll never forget you and the morals you taught me. The nights we spent flying in our little imagination and the laughs we had. The days where we'd do pranks and paintings. Days where we spent living freely. Days I will cherish and remember, only the good days. I will forever love you like it's the end of the world. Your my early angel, never forget that.
