That's why you don't sass women because they WILL come down on you.
"How in Hades do you get face-planted by a flaming volleyball?" It may be a volleyball, but it came in like a wrecking ball. *licks hammer because it's Miley Cyrus it doesn't need to make sense*
Amy only shrugged. "Ask him."
"Like he's in any condition to talk. That moron burned his skin second degree, some areas third degree. It's worse than a sunburn, pun not intended." I said, in response to her glare.
"Go easy on him. He's going to be in a lot of pain for the next week or so. He's not going to let you see it, either."
"That idiot." I swung open the door.
He looked like a decaying mummy, with bandages on his nose, temples, and chin. The rest of his skin was darker than Apollo's and not in a good way. Under the bandages must be even worse. The force of the ball had knocked him straight into the bench behind him. The question everyone was asking though, was how hadn't he seen it? I mean, I know he was stupid, but he could see for gods' sakes.
Aside from that, he had a mild concussion which was more painful than medical, and he had messed up his hair. Such a shame. We have priorities. "You're an idiot, you know that?"
He couldn't hear me, the blow had knocked him out, but I had to say it. "You manage to get yourself in the stupidest of situations, and I love you anyways."
Someone put their hands on my shoulders, and I jumped. "Relax. Just me." Piper said, and I could feel her wave of charmspeak. My body untensed against my will. "Sorry. Don't like to use charmspeak, but you were *this* close to raising Hell. Literally."
"Haha, very punny." I turned to face my sleeping boyfriend. "Did you see it?"
"He was sitting behind me." She pulled me aside. "Can I ask you something that you can't tell anyone else?" I nodded. "Was there anything wrong today? He didn't pay any attention to the game...He was kind've aloof, really. His eyes were glazed over the entire time, and when he saw the ball coming towards him, it was too late. It hit him square in the face- oh don't give me that look I'm being honest- and knocked him into next week, I think."
"Don't be too specific, please."
"When did you get sassy?" Oh hun. *hand flip* You don't know the half of Nico di Sassgelo.
"Just keep talking."
"Anyways, he hit his head on the bench and then the screaming started."
"Right. Then the medics took him out and bandaged and all that jazz."
"Ow." Will said from across the room. Piper gave me a knowing look and walked out the room silently. He opened his eyes, and they immediately watered in pain. "Hey, Sunshine."
A thought popped into my head. "Does your face hurt?"
"Yes."
"-Because it's killing me."
"You're an asshole."
"I'm your asshole, though."
"I know."
"Seriously, how are you doing?"
"Peachy."
"That's the only peachy thing about you. You charred your face."
He was silent for a long time. "It hurts. Everywhere. And it's my fault."
"What happened?"
He swallowed. "I was thinking- dangerous, I know- about things, and I didn't notice the ball."
"You're an idiot, you know that? But you're my idiot."
Here we are again.
