Selene stood in her room in front of the mirror. Though she never used her glamour much in the first place, she couldn't help but wonder what she really looked like with it. She wore a long silver-white dress to represent the moon. The dress had a high collar that reached all the way up to her neck that ended with pointy little stars that would prick her skin if she moved her head down to far. The dress defined her well before puffing out at the bottom. Layers upon layers of fabric that she was sure to trip over on her way to the alter. Tiny diamonds adorned her dress at the bottom. Twinkles that would catch your eye at the right angle.

She examined her round face. She had big brown eyes and fine eyebrows. With a little button nose with thin rosy lips. She had specifically asked her dressers to not put makeup on her face. It left it feeling dry and dirty. In most cases, she ended up smearing it anyway. Her hair was pulled back loosely with two silver picks. Wisps of hair lay against her ears. Selene didn't mind her face. She just wished that maybe her eyes were hazel, mostly green but sparks of gold in them and brown churning in the emerald. She dropped the glamour quickly when a knock and clicking of the door opening made her turn.

A smile rose to her face but was quickly dropped when Aimery Park entered her room. Selene's hearted skipped a beat in terror. His face adorned a wicked smile. She thought she might as well pass out.

"May I ask you what your business is here, Aimery?" Selene finally barked, turning back to the mirror. Pretending to examine herself.

"Well to wish my Princess, Queen. A Happy Birthday." He strode toward her. Stopping behind her. Sudden dread washed over her. She wanted to turn toward him to relax. Right?

GET OUT OF MY HEAD. She screamed in her head. Her face scrunched with concentration. A cold hand awoke her from her mind. His hand. She wanted to lean into it as if it was the only affection she would ever receive. It was him, in her head. She never wanted to even turn to him. Every inch of her body screamed in disgust.

"You don't have to fear me." He whispered, taking his hand away from her face. He let her go. She stifled a gasp of relief. Her face went red with anger and frustration. She opened her mouth to say something before it quickly shut again. "I would save the screaming, Your Majesty."

A knock made Aimery jump in place. Evert Hayle entered the room. Nevermore had she wanted to run to him. A stern look flashed Evert's face at the site of Aimery.

Aimery smirked at him before knocking past him. Evert rushed to Selene and grasped her shoulders gently.

"Did he do anything? Touch you? Hurt you?" A sob welled in her throat. His arms served as comfort as she sank into his hold. Crying tears of shame. "It wasn't your fault."

His whispers of comfort were enough for her to wipe away her tears and stand back on her own feet. "Now, Winter will be there the whole time. And I will be there to protect you. I won't ever let it happen again. Alright, my princess?"

She only managed a shaky nod before taking his hand out to the hallway.
