OMNISCIENT
carter was laying on her back, staring at the crescent moon. a single tear slipped down her face as she stared and she couldn't take her eyes off of it. she wasn't going to say that jahseh was her best friend.
he was far from it. they had a mutual friend group and they bumped heads. however she couldn't deny that he didn't deserve what he got.
he was the one everyone expected to go out last. he was the first. his spirit was enlightening and as much as she hated to admit it she was happy when he was around. nothing was the same.
the friend group was only strong for the first nine months of his absence, until all of them started feeling like it was their fault or that it was someone in the groups.
she wasn't happy seeing the group fall apart and fell into a depression. fortunately she received some of the best news. to her of course. she laughed when she found out and honestly it made her miss him more.
his girlfriend was pregnant and he wanted carter as the godmom. however she wanted to be alone today. because seeing her godson grow and mature she missed him more.
she never once got the thought out her head about if they had actually strengthened their bond while he was still here, but she realized that's the way it was supposed to be.
she was pretty weak emotionally and if they had a stronger bond she would've crumbled.
she shifted to where she was on her side and continued to stare. she smiled when she remembered an encounter they had.
"your middle name is really luna?" he asked. "jahseh it isn't even a wild name, you've been on this for ten minutes" she said. "carter i'll stay on it for as long as i want so ha" he said back.
"you're such a child" she said annoyed. "jen loves it so i don't care what you say" he teased. she just laughed at his behavior.
"i'm getting a new tattoo" he said. "you have enough" she said. "no i don't, let me express myself" he said. "what you getting?" she asked. "imma get a moon" he said.
"aw a tattoo dedicated to me?" she said. "ew no, a tattoo dedicated to me" he said. she glanced at him and rolled her eyes. "which moon?" she asked.
"idk, but full moons are overrated" he said. "you should get a crescent, its a sign of fertility, like life and death you know spirituality" i said.
"lame, i'm not getting it because you suggested it" he said. "gimme my chips you lost your privileges" she said.
she laughed at the memory because he went and got the tattoo the same night. her phone rang and she picked it up. "lulu?" the person spoke. "jen?!" she answered. "gek is sleep, i just need to talk to you" she said.
"i'm here" carter said. "i'm tired of being strong all the time, i miss him so much and i'm just breaking down" jen said.
"cry, please cry, let it out okay, the remaining duration of your pregnancy wasn't enough time for you to mourn" carter said. "everything gek does reminds me of him he even looks just like him, same mannerisms and all i can't" jen cried.
"i'm coming over and we're sharing memories, eating icecream, listening to his songs, and you are going to let out all that bottled hurt" carter said.
"what would i do with out you?" jen sighed. "i don't know probably the same as me without you" carter said. "give me fifteen" carter said. "okay, love you" jen said. "love you too, bye" carter said. "bye" jen said before hanging up.
carter looked back towards the moon, "we didn't forget about you jah, we still love you and we won't ever stop" she said.
in response a single shooting star went passed the moon.
