Chapter 7 | Redeeming Confidence

As you and the girls arrived at the scene known as Retail Row, you recognize everything from the game from the times you'd land here, ready to eliminate anyone that crossed you. The only difference from the playing the game and being in the game itself, was that there we people or as you would say back at home, skins, walking around going about their days. It explains how there were cars around, who else got it there of course there were people actually lived their daily lives, here, I mean, you work for one.

You followed the girls like a lost dog as the group walked in front of a store with clothing items. 'I don't really consider this as a mall but, okay Skye." You said in your head raising your eyebrows. Walking in, you saw the many styles all over the place, it wasn't your average store back at home, sure they had the basic clothes, but they also had the wacky accessories or loud colored shirts or skirts. This made you realize where everyone in the item shop would get their clothes, it was interesting to think of it that way, but it also made sense. You had been wearing the basic default clothes since you've arrived into the game and you never liked it, it was default for crying out loud, you spent real life money to buy the skin Enovy so you wouldn't match with half the bots in the game.

"I kinda only really wanted to take you here so you can get a change of clothes, the default outfit isn't that cute when there's a lot of people wearing the same thing.." Skye confessed up at you. She was about an inch or two shorter. You both stood by the entrance of the store but next to the door so you two wouldn't get in the way of customers coming in or leaving. Tina went off on her own over to the taco shop by the basketball court, while Maya made her way to the store next door to purchase war face paint, leaving Skye with you to help pick out your new everyday wear.

"Well I'm glad you did, I wouldn't know who else would be down to take me, I don't like this outfit anyways." You replied looking down at your outfit tugging the bottom of your shirt. "Well then why did you choose to wear it?" She asked, still not aware that you didn't have choice of picking your outfit or even coming into this simulation. Before you tried to make up an excuse to lie, you two were interrupted.

"What's up Skye!" You heard an unfamiliar voice. You and Skye turned your heads to the young girls left where the greeting came from. "Oh hey Verge!" Skye greeted back with a smile and a big wave towards the male. "What are you doing here, shouldn't you be out on some mission?" He asked. "Today is our day off, so I decided to spend it here with my new friend, Y/N!" She answered the man pointing and looking at you then turning back to Verge. 'Friend..? she considers us friends? She didn't even introduce as a colleague or Midas' assistant. I appreciate that so much' You thought to yourself smiling. "My bad, I'm being rude, My names Verge. Nice to me you.. uh?" "Y/N," You finished his sentence for him "and it's nice to meet you too, Verge." He smiled back at her although his mask was covering his mouth, along with his goggles, but he looked good in it, must be the blond platinum hair that's a nice touch to his mysterious look. "Pleasures all mine." He replied crossing his arms. "Yeahh.." Skye interrupted, squinting at the boy in front of her. "So how come I've never seen you around here before, you know, like with Skye and the other agents?" He continued the conversation. "I just joined their agency like, today." You answered as he nodded his head. "Wellll, we kinda have to get going, so if you'll excusee us." Skye started as she pulled your arm in the other direction waving at Verge excusing you guys, you have a quick wave too before disappearing somewhere into the store. "What was that about? I was about to continue the conversation." You said to her when she stopped in her tracks. "I don't know, he seemed a little more weird than usual." Skye replied. "How? That's how every friendly introduction conversation starts." You said. "I don't know, I just felt uncomfortable, plus, we have to find you your new everyday wear!" She changed the topic.

Moments have passed since that conversation and you were struggling to find what to wear. You didn't want to wear all the tacky crazy clothes you'd see the other 'skins' wear, you couldn't pull it off like them, so you decided to just go basic. Looking around the store, Skye ran off as something cute caught her eye in the accessories section leaving you by yourself but you didn't mind. You finally came across some basic regular clothes making you gasp at the relief that you can dress normal. Your eyes landed on a simple white dress button up shirt, but it was cropped a bit, it looked pretty small but it was stretchy indicating that it'll hug your upper body once you put it on. You held it up to examine it before deciding to hold onto it to try on. Now, your journey to find bottoms begins.
