The hotel room was completely trashed. Clothes and items are strewn everywhere the picture I always carried round surrounded by broken mirror from when it was thrown in temper. How could I of let this happen? How could I just let her walk away from me like that.
She's gone. She's really gone out of my life! What am I suppose to do now? I've just lost my bestfriend, my girlfriend, my only reason.
I rub my eyes beginning to feel fatigue to overcome my body as I think through the showdown that just went on between us. I pick up the photo from the broken frame on the floor and lay on my bed facing the ceiling holding the picture of us both close to my heart. As I lay on the bed I start to think back to when we first met and everything that has gone on between then and now.28th August 2008: The first day I saw her-
I sat in my dads computer shop hopelessly bored minding the front of shop making sure nobody tries to steal a keyboard or something. If I'm to be honest with you right now, I'd rather be home playing my guitar or playing league of legends in the comfort of my room, but dad says I spend too much time in my room and said I needed some sort of summer job to at least get out the house. I like being my house. I don't have to put up with people my age judging what I look like and what I'm wearing. I don't have many friends and I intend to keep it that way. Oh well if I want to look at a plus side of my dad giving me this as a summer job; at least I will be able to buy that awesome electric guitar I've wanted for so long. I was bought out of my day dreams as I see Gerald walking into the shop. He owned a shop next door to my dad doing painting jobs, from fine art to painting cars you want a artist paint job done Gerald Webb is the man you want to be seeing. He and Dad also happen to be extremely good friends from way back in their days of being in high school together.
"Hey Mikey your dad about anywhere?"
"Hey Gerald, yeah he's out back trying to fix some old ladies fax machine. Head on out back if you need to!"
"No need to! Gerald how ya been mate?"
"Daryl ol' buddy good to see ya!" They greeted each other going for the man hug.
"So how's she settling in? Is she adapting to the timezones okay?"
Suddenly I was interested into what my dad and Gerald were talking about.
"Yeah she's fine! It's taking time for her to get use to climate still, being living in England for so long, she's not handling the heat and time difference so well." Change of time and culture? England? Who is this person they are talking about? The plot seems to thicken.
"Awh these things take time! She still speaking to anyone?"
"Nope still quiet as a mouse and still only speaks to Andy and Finn." You see Andy and Finn are Gerald's step-son. His family are half and half you see. He married his wife Claire and becoming a step- dad to Andy (he's 21) and Finn (24). Gerald's son Bradie (he's 19) also moved into the family with them too. They have a baby on the way I know that but I know idea who this British girl they are on about. I want to ask but to scared of being called nosy, so I sit and half heartly listen into the conversation more.
"That's what I came here to talk to you about she'll be comming here later with andy to help bring the stuff you wanted bought round the shop, I thought I'd give you a heads up so she doesn't come across rude if you try speaking to her."
"Note taken! Say she's around Michael's age right?"
"Yeah a year younger than him."
Oh god this can't be good. Wait around my age? Of course it all makes sense now! This is the girl mum and Claire were talking about the other day! The girl Claire and Gerald have adopted.
"Maybe he can try talking to her, I know he has a hard time making friends, maybe he can get her to open up more."
"Sounds like a great idea! Michael you up for that?" My dad questions me, looks like I'm involved now.
"Huh? Yeh sure whatever, I'll do that, if she can be bothered to speak." I said bluntly.
"Better not act like that around her, might not go down well!"
"Yeah try and look friendly to her Michael she's had it tuff and has a bit of a temper so she will bite your head off if you say the wrong thing." Gerald half heartedly jokes. Great she has a temper, this will go down well. my thoughts were interrupted when the bell above the door rang.
"Hey dad me and Ell are here to drop the stuff here you asked us to- oh hey Gerald! Mikey!" That's Andy.
"Hey. Dad said to put Gerald's boxes over in the corner so we can take them home later."
"Cheers mate, cmon Ell just stick them down here! Oh and Michael this is Elenor." Andy introduced. Aah we now have a name to the face of this firery tempered Bristish girl. As Andy moved to put the boxes down I got to see her a little more better. She was short, brown hair curly hair, blue eyes not the size of them girls you see in the magazines but not too big either. She looked normal. She smiled at her brother showing her teeth. Cute, she's got braces too. They both put down the boxes and Andy goes out back to see what dad is up too. Once he left she looked down at her scruffed up converses picking her nails, nervous habit I'm guessing. Guess it's time to introduce myself.
"Hi I'm Michael, my dad and your dad are really good friends nice to meet you!" I said in a friendly tone putting my hand out for her to shake. She just glared at it and squinted her eyes at me. "Well that went down like lead balloon." I mumbled to myself pulling my hand away raking it through my fringe.
"What did you say kangaroo boy." Uh-oh.
"Nothing nothing!!" I stuttered worried what she might do next.
"Bite my ass."
Two can play at this game.
"Hey no need to speak like that tea drinker."
"You asking to be dropped kicked mop boy."
"Hey says the one who's looking like an emo."
"You can talk! What are you trying to be?! Alex Gaskarth or Little Wayne?!" She retorted back. Damn she got me.
"Okay okay you win you win. I'm sorry." I said apologetically.
She looked up at me more relaxed this time. Maybe I cracked her.
"It's okay it's just me putting my walls up again before meeting new people." Hm, she seems troubled.
"Well let's start over hi I'm Michael nice to meet you!"
"Nice to meet you Michael, my name is Elenor. But you can call me Ellie, Ell or Ells of you like. Elenor pisses me off." She giggled sorted out her fringe looking down at her feet once again. "Hey, our shoes match!"
"Huh?"
"Oh sorry I mean look we are both wearing high tops!" She explained.
"Yeah I guess you're right we do!" I said quite amused. "So I couldn't stop thinking over how you know who Alex Gaskarth is."
"Yeah All Time Low are my favourite band!"
"Same here! I hope to rock on stage as amazing as them! Andy said if Finn can teach me well enough to play guitar by the next tour he said I can preform on stage with him Bradie and Shaun at the next Sydney gig they do." Funny just like the rest of the family, she loves her music.
"That's an awesome dream! I hope to do that some day too! I'm also learning to play the guitar myself."
"Really that's cool! Maybe Andy could let you play on stage too."
"Nah, I'd give it a pass. I don't do too well in crowds."
"Oh..."
"Hey, Why don't we play some ATL on dads computer whilst they're all out back."
"Yes! Let's!!" She squeeled. Her eyes lit up like a Christmas tree at the thought. We ran over to dads computer putting the first CD of theirs I could put my hand on, Nothing Personal. Best album they bought out. The sound of Lost In Stereo filled the room as I saw her smiling at the song she clicked on. "Sorry, this is my favourite song of theirs off this album I listen to. It puts me in a great mood, a mood I want to jump around and dance too." She explained blushing a little. Ahaa, great minds think alike. I turned up the volume to full blast and dragged her out into the middle of the shop floor."
"What are we doing?!" She shouted over the sound. Fear struck her face.
"We're dancing! Don't worry we won't get in trouble trust me!" I said over the sound of the best blasting through the speakers. She seemed to lighten up afterwards as we jumped and danced around the shop floor till our hearts content. Huh guess Gerald was right, I was able to crack her. My thoughts were interrupted as I tripped over my foot and sent one of the shelves flying into another one making them all fall down like a domino affect. Uh-Oh. Ellie stopped dead in her tracks as she seen my dad turning the computer off and Gerald and Andy looking at her angrily. I felt sorry for her, she started to shake like a leaf and looked like she was about to cry. I couldn't let her get the blame for this, after all it was my fault the shelves fell down.
"Dad it's my fault I tripped over my foot and made all the shelves fall down, Ellie had nothing to do with it." I openly admitted, she looked at me a little less frightened but fear still struck through her.
"Okay, fine. Whatever the excuse may be Michael I want you to clear this up right now."
"Well we have to get going now. Ellie we have to get going now, say goodbye." Gerald informed her as him and Andy headed towards the door.
"Bye Daryl, Bye Michael. It's nice meeting you." She said more timid than what she was earlier. She ran to the door and went straight into the car. As I started to pick up the boxes on the floor I felt Andy come up behind me and leant down to my ear. "Dude you're the first person that she's opened up to that much, she's not even that confident infront of me and Finn! Well done." He complimented patting my shoulders. Hmm this could be the start of a great friendship between us both.
