Snowfall

Snowfall keeps running, breathing heavily. The undergrowth of the forest is cracking under his heavy paws. The forest tugging on his long white fur as he runs from what He assumes was the new king.
The image is still imprinted in his head. This little guy standing over 13 bloody corpses by the river.

No it could not have been the new king could it? He stops, out of breath from the running. He isn't as young as he used to be. He looks around, now in a more unknown part of the forest. Lost of direction from the panicked running.
If it was him.. Wouldn't he see me as a coward and kill me?

He turns around, facing the direction he had been running from, expecting the sounds of footsteps following him, but there's nothing. Only the sounds of birds singing in the sunshine.
That was odd. So it probably wasn't the new king, since he did not follow him.
He wondered. Hoped.

Slowly, he makes his way back to the little city they had made in the forest. A mile away from the nearest human house, in the middle of the forest there. It's a sunny day, but the sun is dipping down towards the mountains by the time he gets back, coloring the sky red.

The small city they had made so far was more of an underground tunnel system, with a big open cave digged into a small cliff wall. They had spent at least 8 years on getting the caves done.
Long tunnels underground with small caves on the side where people live. There are many entrance tunnels around the forest, even some in the human city, covered with rocks so it's harder to find. Snowfall has one of the bigger caves in the center of the tunnel mess, close to the cave belonging to the King or Queen. He sighs and steps into the main entrance cave. It smells of wet moss and mud, as small puddles from the rain yesterday still lays on the tunnel floor.

He hears heavy breathing behind him and turns around. Behind him stands the guy who He assumed was the new king. The guy who had stood over the corpses just an hour ago. He did recognize him, just not sure from where. He gets a closer look at him, realizing that his wing and arm are broken and that he is limping heavily on one leg.
Probalty why he did not follow.
Snowfall thought.

"Who are you?" Snowfall asks, in the most polite voice he can.
"I am Egon, the new king. Nice to meet you," he responds and shakes his paw.
