My brain wasn't able to comprehend all of the information. I had gotten a note by him and Aiden was trying to send me to a freaking mental hospital.I didn't even understand how he got inside my room, it was on a good height and there was nothing around to climb upon. Thinking about this gave me goosebumps.
I still stood outside the living room after Aiden slammed the door and left. It was then that my brother and Maria noticed me and faked smiles at me to make me think that nothing was wrong.
"Maria can you even out my hair from the back?" I asked her, expressionless.
"Sure, honey. Come here." She smiled. I handed her the pair of scissors and turned around. "Why'd you cut your hair, Paris?"
"I just- it was too long." I was going to tell her that I wanted to change me appearance so that I was not easily identified but refrained. I wasn't changing anything else other than my hair and my face was very recognisable.
"This looks good too. New life, new hair. Right?" She ran her hands through my hair one last time and smiled at me when I turned around to face her.
I knew that it was not exactly a new life, I was still in the same city, same locality. I wanted a new life so bad because what happened to me wasn't something you forget eventually, I knew that it was always going to haunt me. It scared me to start living again because I knew that he was out there somewhere just waiting to get his dirty hands on me again.
"Paris, we're not going to send you off somewhere. This is your house and you're not going anywhere. Don't be scared." Mike tried to reassure me.
I nodded and walked back to my room without a word. I looked at the broken door with splinters covering the floor around it, I didn't care about it; the room gave me a little anxiety as I inspected how someone couldve climbed in just to put that note to traumatise me even more.
There wasn't a vast time window between the time I left my room and came back, it wasnt enough to put a ladder, climb in and stick the note before descending the ladder and remove it.
I then walked back down to the little front lawn outside the house and looked around for footsteps on the freshly watered soil, nothing. Not even signs of holes made by a ladder which would've been very prominent on wet soil. I was convinced that whoever came in, did not use the window but opened it just to make me think that they climbed in.
But there was also no possibility of someone entering through the front door, it was locked from the inside and Aiden was with me while I was hyperventilating. The whole thing messed with my mind and I itched to solve the mystery.
I strained my head a little more and tried to remember even a tiny little fragment of what happened. I was going through a mental breakdown, it was difficult to remember anything else but wasn't impossible.
All I saw was Aiden's eyes, they haunted me. The similarity was uncanny and it terrified me to the core.
There wasn't anything else I could remember, nothing.
I decided to walk to the cafe I used to visit, they had the best cupcakes and coffee but not many people visited. A lot of good memories were linked to that place, it was where I met my best friends.
Walking down the street to get to the park, I noticed a new cafe opened up. I didn't have any friends, I was always the quiet one, the introvert. So I usually walked to the park and sat on the benches just to watch and listen to some music.
I decided to stop there for a cup of coffee and mentally prepared myself to talk and order.
"Hey, how can I help you?" The girl with neon green hair asked me when I stepped into the tiny cafe. It was quaint and comfortable, nothing fancy.
