the new girl

MAKENZIE WALKED into hawkins middle school for her first ever day of school. makenzie has been home schooled her whole life, due to her rebellious and careless personality. her parents and teacher would often get really frustrated with makenzie, so her parents thought maybe making her go to an actual school, it would make her a better person and help her learn better. she walked into the principals office hoping he could tell her where to go.

"oh! are you makenzie buckley?" the principal asked the young girl in front of him.

"yeah." makenzie answered blandly.

"great! this is your schedule, and if you follow me, i can show you the way to your first class!" the principal said smiling and handing makenzie the piece of paper with her classes on it. once the principal started walking in front of the girl, she rolled her eyes at his bubbly personality.

he opened the door to the class room, making all of the kids in the class turn to look at makenzie.

"oh look at that class! it's our new student!"
mr. clarke said looking at makenzie.
"class please welcome our latest passenger to join us on our curiosity voyage... makenzie!" mr. clarke said doing jazz hands.

makenzie walked to the back of the class to a empty seat, and slouched down in her seat not wanting to be that school at all. makenzie looked around the class room, and saw a group of four boys staring back at her, while the rest of the class is focused on the teacher again. makenzie raised her eyebrows questioning why the boys are staring a her, and they immediately turned around back to the front of class room. she chuckled to herself, and started to pay attention, well, at least try to pay attention to the lesson.

after the bell rang all of the kids in the class started to pack up their belongings and get up to leave the classroom.

"hey makenzie! could you stay for a minute?" mr. clarke said over all the kids talking, waving makenzie over to him. makenzie walked up to his desk not really wanting to listen to what he had to say.

"so i don't know if you know, but your dad and i are pretty good friends. i was taking to him the other day, and i mentioned a club that might be good for you to join since you're new." mr. clarke explained.

"who's in this club and what is it?" makenzie asked the man placing her hands on her hips.

"it's hawkins AV club and well, their standing right behind you." mr. clarke said gesturing to the four boys standing behind makenzie by their desks. the girl turned around to see the four boys that where staring at her in class.

"there's dustin, will, mike, and lucas." he said pointing to each boy as he said their names. makenzie didn't know what to say. she didn't want to say no because she thought maybe she could make some friends, but she also doesn't want to be in a club with a bunch of nerdy boys.

"sooo, what do you think?" mr. clarke questioned.

"fine. whatever." makenzie sighed, watching the boys faces light up. they were excited to have a girl join their club, the boys thought makenzie was cool.

makenzie flung her back pack over her right shoulder, and left the classroom. she looked around the halls looking for a exit door. even though she didn't quite know where she was going, she was still waking confidently down the halls.

"hey makenzie wait up!" one of boys yelled from behind her. she turned around the see mike walking up towards her. she stoped walking so the boy could catch up with her.

"um the party is coming to my house tonight, and we were wondering if you wanted to come, you know since you're new and all that." mike asked sounding a little nervous.

"uh, sure i guess." makenzie said confused on why a boy she just met was inviting her to his house. she shrugged it off and stared to walk away again. mike turned around and gave his friends a thumbs up, and al of their smiles grew wider.
