Without hesitation, both boys took back off down the street.
"Aauuargh!" the Khormai yelled, looking back at his two bodyguards. "Don't just stand there fools, catch them! I want that girl alive!" The two aliens nodded at their boss and contracted their bodies into a wheel shape, taking off down the street at a breakneck roll.
The Baron turned to face Coran, with an outstretched finger and anger in his eyes.
"And you..."
He pushed Coran in the chest with his rather large finger, "I took you for someone with class. Not just some dirty smuggler. To think I was going to help you. I should kill you where you stand, you filth."
The Baron reached into his large jacket and Coran knew the situation was nearly unsalvageable at this point. He instinctively lashed his arm out in a punch, it's strength surprising even Coran himself, as his fist connected with the large Khormai's nose.
He heard a crunching noise, but couldn't tell if it had been the Baron's face or his own fingers. What he did know, however, was that the Baron was now sprawled out on the ground holding his bloodied face and screaming out in pain.
Coran took off towards the elevator and knew that if the girl was going to be there, the boys would definitely head there as well. The Baron was now behind him, rolling around either trying to stand to his feet or grab his pistol.
"If I lose that girl, you will pay for far more than what she's worth!!!"
Coran heard Baron Urul yell out more obscenities as he ducked into the marketplace crowd. He hoped the boys could outrun the Baron's bodyguards, but at the speed they were traveling, it was hard to be optimistic.
He reached for his comlink to contact Tip, only to realize that it must have fallen out of his pocket when he was knocked down. He gritted his teeth as he reprimanded himself for even holding onto hope that this would go smoothly.
He couldn't let those boys get killed. They were the ticket to achieving all of his dreams. If he had to go back and explain to Tal that he let them die the moment they got to Mooga, he would never be able to live with himself. And he might not be able to live at all. He just needed to make it to the elevator, and he was almost there.
The base of the landing platform was finally in view, and Coran saw the two large aliens. They had cornered the boys, as well as a young human female, in front of the door to the lift. Tita was frantically pushing on the button, and Pi was standing in front of the girl, arms stretched wide and eyes closed.
They were going in for the kill, but not if Coran had to say anything about it.
He pulled out his blaster and fired into the back of the nearest body guard. However, it's thick outer skin simply absorbed the bolts completely, and they both turned around in annoyance. That's when Coran saw Tita draw his own pistol.
The young boy hesitated and looked at Coran, who was now charging down the barrels of the two alien's rifles.
"Shoot, Tita!" He yelled, and one of the creatures turned back around to see what he was screaming at.
The boy squinted his eyes and pulled the trigger, sending a blaster bolt straight into the eye of the alien. It reeled back as it grabbed its face and collapsed into a stack of nearby barrels.
The other monster turned to watch it's friend fall, and Coran used that opportunity to throw his body into the creature with the momentum he had built it.
He felt something in his shoulder crack, but it was enough force to knock the alien over and it's gun several meters away. He brought his fist straight down into the aliens face and looked up to see the elevator door open.
