"Announcing princesses, Brie, Sophia, Karli, Jane, Tina, and princess Lily." The crowd wildly clapped as my sisters and I walked onto the balcony that overlooked the crowd.
Once the crowd settled down our Prime Minister said," People of Windell as you know there will be a ball for the kings two eldest daughters, " he said waving a hand to Brie and Sophia,"a month after this night both of the girls must find a man to which they will wed later in the year. All are invited to attend, and the gates will open at seven sharp. Thank you."
The crowd began to cheer as Brie and Sophia started to wave the people good bye. We all walked inside, out of the cold wind, and the sound of the crowd began to fade as we left. The king(as we call him) told us to go upstairs and prepare for dinner. My sisters and I walked up the marble staircase with a little less joy in our steps as usual. We all knew that Brie and Sophie would have to marry into another family eventually, however none of us expected it to be so soon. After all they are only eighteen.
We all walked through the door into our main room. You see our rooms each connect to a living room like area in the center. This is where we all get ready for special occasions or just hang out in together. Happily we all began to take off our extremely uncomfortable dresses and shoes.
"Who knew a dress could have so much lace, ruffles and silk!" complained Jane.
"At least you don't have to wear a stupid corset," said Brie as she struggled to take it off.
"Ughh I know," complained Sophie as she untied the strings of Brie's corset.
"Hey you two aren't the only ones who have to wear those." I said gesturing to myself and Karli.
"Yea Lily and I have to wear them too." said Karli.
Brie and Sophie are both eighteen. Karlie is sixteen, and I am fifteen. The two youngest, Tina and Jane, are twins and they are eleven. Once everyone had changed into more comfortable outfits we all gathered around on the couches.
"Brie," said Karli," it's time to take out the list, we haven't done it in a week or two." Everyone agreed and Brie got up and went to the old wooden desk for the key. Then she opened the small leather trunk that we used as a coffee table and pulled out a blue note book.
She flipped through the empty pages until she came upon the list. The list is what we track down our magic abilities on. As we get older our magic continues to advance. Overall the years we have done this we have figured out each persons main power:Brie- move and control wind
Sophie-secure a room with force field
Karli- can read thoughts
Lily- can be invisible to others
Jane-can freeze time for about a min.
Tina- transport objects only a few feetWe were all born with our magic. We believe that we inherited it from our mother but she died when the twins were born. Each of us has not been able to use magic until our tenth birthday so Brie and Sophie never found out about it until our mom was gone. No one knows about our gift, not even the king. The king is our father but he never truly cared for us like our mother used to.
We took turns telling each other about recent encounters with magic until the bell rang for all of Windell to begin dinner.
