Chapter Two

Two days have passed since we formally announced the ball. We have been so very busy since then. On the first day we all had to go to town and be fitted for our dresses that we planned to wear. Having five sisters you could only imagine how long that can take. This morning Brie and Sophie had dance lessons along with edicate lessons that last for the rest of the day. While they were gone we all sat in our main room and talked.

"I don't want Brie and Sophie to get married!" complained Jane.

"None of us do," I mumbled. We all were upset that they were being forced to marry, but most of all we were scared to loose them. They have more experience with magic than any of us do, and unlike us they know how to control and hide their magic. Plus, we were all nervous for them. How are they supposed to hide their magic from their husbands or new kingdoms? Even if you know how to control magic you can't keep it inside of you forever, at some point you have to unleash it. That's why all of us girls grew up inside of the castles' walls. The whole kingdom knows us as royalty. What would they think if they found out of the power we all were born with? I shuddered as I thought of the answer to that question.

Tina interrupted my thoughts as she began to rant about how horrible everything would be once they were both gone.

Julia's POV

I walked through the cold snow listening to it crunch under my feet. I had just finish another grueling day of work. Being a dress makers assistant is more like being a slave. The only perk if that job is to meet all of the fine ladies of Windell. I heard a carriage approaching from long road behind me and immediately moved aside. It swiftly passed me sending a cold chill through my thin coat. I gazed at the palace crest engraved on the back. Most likely the princesses were returning from a day of being spoiled. Most people would do anything to be in their shoes, everyone but me. I couldn't stand having to marry just to join two kingdoms. I continued to pity on their lifestyle until looked up and saw the old familiar black mailbox half covered in snow.

"Julia! Julia!" yelled my beloved little sister Ella. I laughed and began to run to our old cottage.

"Hi," I said as I wrapped her into a warm hug," where's ma'ma?"

"She's inside cooking dinner," Ella replied," can we go inside, it's cold." We ran to the door and stomped off the snow from our boots. As I opened the old oak door the aroma of ma'mas signature soup greeted me.

"Julia? Is that you?" questioned ma'ma.

" Yes it is," I laughed.

"Oh good Ella has been bouncing around all afternoon waiting for you," she hinted.

"Oh I wonder why..." I laughed.

"Please please please," begged Ella.

" Ok one song alright," I said.

"Yaayyyyy!" Ella squealed. I walked over to our most prized possession, the beloved piano. Our father had given this to my mother just before he left for the war. I sat down and played a tuned as Ella danced around the room, and we continued to do that until the bell for dinner rang.
