कहानी है एक योगी की जो संसार की मोह माया से परे थे पर एक राजकुमारी उनसे प्रेम करती थी, उनको पाने की इच्छा से तपस्या कर रही थी । महायोगी शिव को आखिर माता सती के प्रेम में झुकना ही पड़ा, सती माता से विवाह कर गृहस्थ जीवन को अपनाना ही पड़ा। फ़िर सती माँ एक दिन अपना पिताजी राजा दक्ष के घर गई। अपने पति परमेश्वर के अपमान देखकर उन्होंने अपने प्राण त्याग दिये। भोले शिवजी क्रोधित हो गए और पत्नी को ना पाकर तांडव करने लगे। उनके प्रेम को सार्थक करने के लिए माँ पार्वती ने जन्म लिया। यही तो है प्रेम की अतुल्य ताकत !
