Chapter 3

Halos sabay sabay namin ibinagsak sa sofa at sa mga swivel chair ang mga pagod na katawan namin. 

Mag aalas tres na at katatapos lamang ng emergency code blue. 

Lima kaming naka assign sa Cardio department dalawa lamang kaming babae at hindi ko sila gaano kilala. Ang mga kaibigan at kasabayan ko sa med school ay pinili sa malalayong hospital pero dahil may dahilan ako, pinili ko sa hospital na ito.

It's been 3 weeks pero hindi ko padin sila nakakasalamuha ng maayos. Palagi din kasi kaming napapagalitan dahil sa akin kaya hindi nakakapag taka na naiinis sila sakin.

"oh, grabe ang cute ninyong tignan"

Napaayos kami agad ng upo, it's Doctor Marine isang pedia , isa siya sa mga iilan lamang na mabait sa mga interns gaya namin.

"oh huwag kayong mag alala , hindi ako si Doc Jimenez at Doc Ignacio na nangangain ng Interns" natawa sila sa biro niya

Muli kong ibingsak ang sarili sa sofa.

Kasalukuyan kaming nasa office kung saan department kami na assign. Susulitin ko ang pahinga bago pa man may dumating na naman...

"where are the interns?"

Please no... ipinikit ko lalo ang mata.

Hindi ko na ata kaya !

It is Doc Ignacio, he is about my father's age, mid 50 strict looking man at hindi lang sa hitsura dahil istrikto talaga siya. Masakit magsalita pag galit at lagi akong pinag iinitan.

"the devil ace" sabay sabay kaming lumingon kay Doc Marine na nakangiti habang sumisimsim ng kape.

"siya lang naman ang bangungot ng mga interns. Kung ako sa inyo mas gugustuhin ko ang lumipat."

Devil ace? Bakit parang hindi naman ganoon ang impression ko sa kaniya 6 years ago?

"Doc Neiji!! Lalo ka ata gumwapo galing America!" napalingon ako dahil sa maligayang tinig ni Doc Marine sa kararating lang na lalake sa pinto, katabi niya si Doc Ignacio. The same guy I fell in love 6 years ago.

Shit.

"mukha ka na ring afam ngayon! Binuhay mo ang katawang lupa ko!" I heard giggles. Doc Marine is known for her bubbly personality and humor, but she's my sister's age and she's married kaya alam kong biro lamang iyon.

Doc Neiji seems to know it and he didn't even smile

"tch, di ka parin nagbabago Devil Ace"

"Ikaw din Doc, it is nice to see you in this chaotic environment " he then looked at us.His voice is too deep and hoarse. He sounded too manly now. The 6 years changed him. A lot.

Mula kanina hindi ko padin siya nakikitang ngumiti man lamang.

"it is too crowded."

"I know, that's why I told them that we will be transferring 3 of them, I am giving you the priviledge of choosing, I gave you their background already." Tinapik ni Doc Ignacio ang balikat niya at naglakad papasok sa kaniyang office table.

Naikuyom ko ang kamao, I need to stay in this department.

Ive been anticipating for this moment in the last 6 years, to see him again

I know Doctor Ignacio told him our background, maybe that includes me being the big rock of this team, siguradong hindi niya ako pipiliin!!

Shit Anna mag isip ka! Mag isip ka , you need to stay here!

"I really hate slackers, but I loathe the big rocks that block the way to easier and faster work, I don't have time dealing and working with those type of interns. If you are like that you know what to do. Carry your things and transfer to the other department."

He sounded so... rude and so... arrogant.

Hindi ko maalis ang mga mata sa kaniya, I cant stop thinking what could possibly gone wrong? This man is so different from the man I knew.

Naramdaman ko ang pag siko ng katabi kong intern.

When I looked at the guy, it is the same guy who bumped me earlier , he motioned his face towards the door as if telling me I should go.

They are all looking at me, even him.

Doctor Neiji.

He wants me to leave.

Ikinuyom ko ang kamao.

"Doctor Neiji, I am Anastacia Macabebe intern and Graduate of UP med school, please let me stay in this department. I worked so hard in the past 6 years just to get in here and work with you. Please accept me, you are the reason why I am a doctor now."

I saw a small flicker in his eyes, may mga bulong bulungan din sa paligid, maging si Doctor marine na palaging maingay ay nakangiti nang tahimik at nagulantang sa narinig

"I think she just confessed to you Neiji"

Nilingon ko ang lalake na nakangiti sa akin at nakasandig sa hamba ng pinto, I think he is also a cardiologist in this department galing sila sa isang international medical research conduct.

"wow, did you just confessed to Devil Ace, Anastacia Steel?"

"its macabebe doc Marine" natawa lamang siya, she kept calling me Anastacia Steel in the past 3 weeks.

Nilingon kong muli ang tahimik parin na si Doc Neiji, hindi man lamang nagbago ang expression sa mukha niya.

"Doc Neiji... please accept..."

"No. " he diverted his eyes on the other woman intern beside me

"you , and you with the eyeglasses, stay in our department, the rest of you clean your table and go to the other department."

Dumiretso na siya sa kaniyang mesa at iniwan kami.

Doc Marine approached me and hold my arm tightly , " that's okay Anastacia Steele, he is really the devil ace, I just don't think your feelings for him will be reciprocated ." she gave me a warm smile , something I can get from my Ate when I'm not feeling confident with my practical exam. A reassuring smile.

Nakaramdam ako ng disappointment.

"ang harsh mo talaga Neiji!" wika ng lalake sa may pinto at linapitan ako

"this cute intern just showed interest on the devil yet you"

"I am busy and tired"

I sighed and smiled sweetly at the guy Doctor who is trying to defend my feelings

"okay lang po iyon Doc..." tinignan ko ang nameplate niya

"Doctor Alec, hehe I was just too bold to express my emotions no harm done"

Doctor Marine came to me again

"She is hurt Neiji I can tell from her eyes, hmp! Halika. Kukunin kita sa aking department, you don't deserve to be here Anastacia Steele"

I smile sadly.

He rejected me.
