Twas the day after Christmas,
All through the Frost home,
Parents Belle and Jack,
Knew that they weren't alone,
For they had their three children,
Nadia, Aaron and Mei,
Enjoying the gifts,
They'd received yesterday.
I am Belle,
But of course you knew.
Who else could recall such a story to you?
And these children are mine,
My flesh and my blood,
One of which you know,
And the others unheard of.
This is a short tale
Of the day after Christmas,
Thankfully not all of it
Is told as this is.
With hot cocoa in hand,
And snow out the windows,
I sit to write a true story,
And this, my friends, is how it goes.
I can remember waking up on December 26th to find my eldest child, Nadia, leaning on the mattress looking at me with her father's bright blue eyes. Her chocolate hair had grown quite long the past seven years, almost up to her hips with the bangs resting on her forehead. Her skin was pale yet her lips and cheeks were gently brushed pink as if painted. She smiled at me, seeing me awake, revealing her pearly white teeth and adorable dimples in her cheeks which I feared she may outgrow some day.
"Good morning mother," she whispered. Her father was still asleep beside me with an arm wrapped around my waist and his lips softly brushing the back of my neck which always sent shivers down my spine.
"Good morning Nadia. Are your brother and sister awake yet?" I replied.
"Not yet but I do not doubt they shall be soon! Is daddy still asleep?"
"Yes but I can wake him if you wish..."
"No that's okay. I can wait 'till Aaron and Mei get up," Nadia whispered as she stood and began towards my bedroom door in her pink floral nightgown.
"Hey mummy..." she paused.
"Yes dear?"
"Why do you sleep without clothes on?" I couldn't help but smile at such a question.
"When two people love each other as much as your father and I do, darling, we feel more comfortable not wearing clothes when we sleep. But you should still wear pyjamas, okay?" I smiled. Nadia nodded and walked out of the room, closing the door quietly behind her.
"Good response," Jack added, his hot breath caressing my neck as he woke.
"Thank you. It's your fault we don't wear clothes to bed, you know," I giggled, curling up and pressing myself into him.
"I dunno, you seemed pretty eager to get them off last night." I felt his lips curve into a smile as he kissed up the back of my neck. A tingling sensation ran up my spine and I shivered in his grasp. Glad to know it excited me, he gently moved his hands around, brushing my skin to give me subtle reminders of the night before.
"I should go and see North today," Jack squeezed my stomach to hold me close.
"The least busy day of the year... Absolutely. Would you like me to come? We could bring the kids."
