To say the way back to Evie's home was awkward was an understatement. Jay walked in front of Myra, who frequently had to make a short sprint to keep up with him. Even so she didn't have the courage to speak up or tell him to slow down; neither of them said a word the whole time.
Myra could not remember the last time she felt this guilty. Jay had just opened up to her, he told her he loved her. Even after all this time, all the fighting and disappointments he still loved her. And Myra knew that deep down inside of her where she had roughly stuffed away that little black box with her emotions, she still felt the same. She wanted to blame Hades, which she had good reasons for- he was the reason she couldn't stay after all- but it had been her choice not to tell him. He had been open and honest and she still had been too ashamed to do the same. Myra started to think that maybe that had been a mistake, but would telling them now do any good? It would only complicate things more. The others would probably try to fix it, even though it couldn't be fixed and they had to focus on more important things like saving the whole of Auradon. No... Myra decided not to tell the others... not yet... not everyone, at least.
Jay was the first one to walk back into the living room. He didn't even stop to greet the others as he stormed up the stairs, away from everyone. Uma, Evie, Harry, Celia and Dizzy were in the room, all of them watching Jay as he did so.
"What's up with him?" Uma asked in an almost bored voice. Non of them had turned their attention to Myra, who was still awkwardly standing in the doorway. Also staring after Jay with a saddened expression.
Quickly Myra shook her head, erasing the emotion off her face. She didn't answer as she closed the door and made her way to Uma. Evie, Celia and Dizzy- who were sitting at the table- watched her all the way until she sat down on the couch beside her cousin. Harry sat on Uma's other side, not very interested in Jay anymore.
"What did you tell him?" Myra whispered to Uma, slight anger already in her voice.
"Nothing important." Uma said with a shrug, trying to wave it away, but Myra didn't believe her.
"Nothing important? He told me he loves me." The whispering didn't make the frustration Myra felt fade from her words.
"The lad did what now?" Harry asked, scooting closer to the two girls, leaning his arms on his knees and a grin on his lips.
"You, shut up." Myra hissed at him before turning her glare back to Uma. Harry placed his hand on his heart while gasping in fake offence, which got ignored by both girls.
"Uma, I saw you taking him separate. I know you told him something. Now what was it?"
"Chill, Cousin." The blue haired girl spoke, raising her hand in a gesture for Myra to calm down. Which didn't really help. "Look, I may have hinted towards... some things that might have related to you. In some way."
     "Uma!" Myra whined.
"What? I just made clear to him- in a very, very unclear way- that you wouldn't be here for much longer and he either could keep behaving like an annoying, stubborn little brad or actually try to make up before you're gone."
Myra groaned, letting her head fall in her hands. "Uma, whyyyy?"
The girl sighed, rolling her eyes as she pulled Myra's hands away from her face. "Because, I know you still like him." She whispered. Harry was still listening intensely, but didn't say a thing. "And I want you to at least try to have some fun with him." When Myra just stared at her with disbelieve in her eyes she continued. "Look, I told the guy you used to... feel things... for him. And that maybe you still did. I thought it would help him ease up. But I didn't know he would confess his undying love for you." There was a lot of sarcasm in Uma's last sentence.
"Never mind all that," Harry spoke up, talking softly like the girls had. "What did ya say to get him that worked up? I've been tryin' to get him like that all day."
"Harry!" Myra and Uma bit at the pirate, who stuck both hands up in defense.
     "Okay! Okay, I'll back off."
the kitchen door opened and soon after Mal's voice sounded through the room. "Myra!" Startling the blond with the sudden loud sound. "There you are." The purple haired girl made her way to her friend.
"So, how did it go?" Myra asked Mal, standing up and crossing her arms over her chest. Clearly still slightly pissed off at her command from before. "Have you mastered the art of the magical flute yet?" Seeing this as their que to leave, Uma and Harry got up and walked away. Leaving the two to talk it out.
"I'm sorry about that..." Mal started, her voice softened with regret. "I'm stressing out and the flute could really help, if you could control it. And if we actually found Audrey. And if it would actually work against her..."
Mal's eyes shot around the room, until they finally found Myra's. A moment of silence was shared until they both busted out laughing.
"Yeah... okay." Myra said, being the first one to stop laughing. "I get it. It's fine. We're all just on edge."
Mal smiled at Myra while handing her her flute back. "Yeah... about that. We should get going..."
The Pied Piper's daughter nodded as she put the strap back around her shoulders. If the time came and she had no other choice, she could always make everyone fall asleep. Including Audrey, of course.
Myra wanted to rejoin Uma and Harry, but before she could set her second step Mal grabbed her arm, turning her back to face her.
"Just... one more thing." The girl started. "Could you go get Jay? He's upstairs, second door to the right. It's the only one closed." There was a silent message in Mal's voice and the look she gave Myra. The reason why she asked her specifically to go get him. And Myra understood. They had to get this out of the way if they're going to have to fight side by side.
With one nod, Myra made her way up the stairs. A heavy feeling started to press down on her chest as she got closer to the first floor. So many thoughts spiraled through her mind, what was she going to say? Would she tell him the truth? If yes, how much of it? Would he even listen to her? Or believe her?
But the time of thinking was over way too quickly, as she had reached the only closed door on the right side of the hallway. After taking one last, deep breath she opened the door.
