I walk into Ms. Hansen's class as soon as I can. I am dreading this moment because I don't want everyone to stare at me. I'll just bite the bullet. "Have a-" her head turns towards me with a surprised expression upon her face. "Oh hello Kelly! I didn't know you were coming to school today, your mother sent a message to the office that you weren't feeling well."

"I'm feeling much better actually, thanks." I sit down and Ms. Hansen continues what I interrupted. I smile shyly at Luke. When I'm around him I can feel the blood surface to my cheeks. It is so hard to hide the way I'm feeling right now. Just being around him makes my stomach tingle. "Hey," I whisper to him.

"You feeling better?" He asks me with a sincere smile on his face.

We are interupted by the bell and I yell "Yes much better!" over the sound of everyone barging out of the classroom. We wave goodbye. I wish I didn't get sick. I mean of course I have the whole year with him but I want every minute with him.

The rest of the day is a bore and I don't even care about it. Carrie questions me across the gross cafeteria table. "You're feeling better right? If you're feeling dizzy or anything and I can take you to the nurse right-"

"I'm fine," I insist. "I am feeling better. I actually kind of wanted to come back to school cause I wanted to see Luke..." I say covering my face out of embarrassment. She has always gotten on me about being too head over heels "in love" with guys.

She rolls her eyes "He is really cute and I think he likes you! Just don't get your hopes up, okay?" She touches my hand gently to reassure me.

I smile back at her. "Thanks I will try not to. But you know how I am." I look down. See that's a bad thing, being that way with boys. They never like me when I get my hopes up.

At the end of the day I'm surprised to see Luke standing near my locker. "Hey Luke, did you ever find your keys?" I don't know why he is here and I am scared.

"Oh yeah! I um. Uh. I actually didn't lose my keys... I uh I kind of chicken out. I wanted to know if you were free this weekend?" He seems nervous. Oh my gosh friends don't act like that when they wanna hang out this is definitely a date. What.

I try not to seem overly excited. "Yeah I actually am! I don't really have anything to do on the weekends anyways..." Yep, loser status.

"Awesome! Do you wanna do something tomorrow?"

"Sure what were you thinking of?" Oh boy whenever someone wants to go on a date either they know exactly what kind of date to go on or they have no idea at all. I don't want to see a movie but then again I'm so awkward and won't know what to say so maybe that's the better choice. Is this even a date?

"I was thinking of doing something fun like ice skating?" Oh, so was he thinking about it for a long time? Or is this just something that came into his head at the last minute? I am so bad at ice skating but I'm not going to tell him that. That will make it better.

"Were you going to invite other people?" I don't want it to be awkward but I want to know if this is a date or a casual thing.

"uh only if you wanted to" he looks kind of embarrassed aw.

"No that's fine!" I said with a smile. I want him to think i think this is a date as long as he thinks this is a date to him.

"Cool! I'll see you tomorrow!" I watch him walk around the corner before I can do a happy dance. I look so stupid but I don't care because a really cute boy just asked me on a date. People in the hall are staring at me. I glare at them "What are you looking at?" They walk away and I continue to bounce around.

When I get home I call Carrie and say "Luke just asked me on a date." before she could say anything.

She shrieks through the phone and I back it away from my ear. "YOU GUYS ARE SO CUTE!" A huge smile spreads to my temples.

"Wait. I mean I don't know if it's a date" I really hope he thinks of it as a date...

We talk on the phone for a couple more minutes before I daze off and think of how our day will be tomorrow.
