I felt warm and my body was resting on a soft bed, covered by warm blankets.
"Lizzie! Lizzie!" Called a familiar voice I couldn't yet finger out who it belonged too. They was movement on the background, talking and people walking here and there. I felt a warm hand lifting my eyelids up and flashing a bright light on them. I flinched as that person said something I couldn't understand to the third person in the room. "Lizzie can you hear me?" Asked that voice again, it was deep and this time I recognized who it belonged too.
"Fred" I called with a low voice as I felt warm hands grabbing mine.
"Yes, it's me love." He said, bringing my hand up to his face or cheek, I couldn't tell.
I opened my eyes slowly to find Fred rubbing my hand softly on his cheeks. He placed his other hand on my forehead, "How are you feeling?" he asked.
"I'm fine, how's..."
"You've been out for a day, don't exhausted yourself by talking." Said a husky voice and I lifted my head a little to find Ren standing behind Fred, looking down at me. My face literally lit up on seeing him and I felt most of my pain subsiding. "I'm fine don't worry about me" He answered my question that I didn't even had the chance to finish.
Fred rose up from besides me and stood facing Ren, "Yah, it's all thanks to him that you are breathing right now. I don't even wanna imagine what would've happened if he'd arrived at the waterfall a bit too late." arrived at the waterfall a bit too late. I averted my gaze to Ren and he winked at me followed by a smirk. He lied to him and told him I went by myself to the waterfall. I smiled as I looked away from him.
Fred sat back down on the bed besides me and tucked me in nicely. "We'll talk about what you were doing alone at the waterfall at that hour later. For now you need to rest." I saw Ren and Ted exchanging weird eye contacts. Where they doing their mind link thing. I looked back at Fred and nodded.
They all walked out of the room, leaving me alone in Fred's room. Okay so Fred's back and I'd been asleep for a day. But I couldn't quite imagine the lie Ren might have told him, I just hope he believed it. Sleep took over and the next thing I saw when I woked up was Fred sitted on one of his mini couches smoking his cigar and had a glass of whisky on the other hand. On seeing I was awake he rose up and walked towards the bed, he sat besides me. "How are you feeling?" He asked his deep voice low and showing sighs of tiredness. He even had eye bags underneath his eyes, and his skin colour seemed pale.
He helped me sit up, leaning my back at the mountain of soft pillows by the hand board. "I'm fine just starving and dried out." The lack of water and food I've gone through for a day was now showing signs.
He nodded as he walked out of the room to the living room and came back after a while. "Sophie will bring your food in a minute." He said as he took a seat next to me on the bed.
He looked at me then back at the floor then back at me again, this time his icy eyes met my eyes. "How did you came to know about that waterfall?" He asked, staring daggers at my eyes. I knew he was interrogating me and I needed to be smart on how I answer his question or I might end up putting Ren and myself in trouble.
Before I could open my eyes to say anything they was a knock on the door and then Sophie walked inside, with a maid behind her pushing a tray of food. "I heard what happened, it's such a relive the Beta arrived in time or we would be talking something different now." Said Sophie and I faked a smile and nodded my head. Ren's such a good liar, I can't believe everyone actually believed his lie. I mean who would actually believe I went to the waterfall at night all by myself. That's just lame.
She placed the tray besides the bed as she took a bowl of vegetable soup and placed it on the bedside table. "Thank you." I said my gratitude to both Sophie and the maid.
