(well, it's not really final)hello, guys! have you forgiven me yet?
well, you've all made it to the end of this wild ride, congratulations are in order! we've laughed together and cried together and went 'what the actual hell is this author thinking' together.
so, for those of you who don't know me, allow me to introduce myself. hi! i'm thea! you can call me either Thea or That Dumbass Bitch ™️, your pick.
now, welcome to my not-so-final author's note.
not-so-final, you say? well, of course!drumroll! edge of your seats guys!
there will be a second book (yay! i think?) and i'm here to explain my decision as to why i'm doing this.
I know it's not very common on WP for stories to be split into more than one instalment, and it's not practical either. people will get bored, who wants to read about those dumbasses for two books??, you'll lose viewers yada yada.
but, I knew from the start of writing this book (wrote the first eight chapters when I was 16) that it had to have more than one book for this story. i'm sorry.but you guys realise that I talk a lot right? and that my culmination of talking has resulted in 50+ chapters of nonstop bs?
exactly. I cannot possibly fit it all in one.
it won't look pretty. it won't soothe my heart. besides, that ending wouldn't feel right if I just went on to another chapter afterwards.
if I ever do get around to editing this story one day, I'll perhaps take it all down and re-upload slowly because there is a lot to be fixed! trust me, I know.
so, freya arsov, my dear sweet angel (lol) who started this entire story for me, will have her story continue.
now, on the topic of that ending. I knew that it was going to end that
way from the moment I started the trainwreck that is this book (or should I say shipwreck ?)hell, I even named the book after the My Chemical Romance song Bulletproof Heart (though earlier I actually called the book Bulletproof Hearts Club— don't ask me why, idk either). if you listen to the song, it fits.
now, I know what you're thinking, what the hell, author?? are you batshit?
the answer, my friends, is yes. i am in fact very batshit.
writing this story has been an insane journey, ngl. I believe I posted the first 8 chapters and nothing else to WP in April 2019 and just left it there for a long time until I finally decided to come back and think about this story.
more than anything, me writing this story was simply my way of getting it out of my head and onto a page bc, like our lovely main character in a way, i'd much rather eat sand than talk about my feelings so here I was throwing them into a book. phew this was truly an emotional experience like I took a lot of crying selfies that I might just make an insta just for wattpad and post them all there so I don't concern people on my actual accounts.
this story was bigger than me and literally i worried it might come alive and eat me. i wrote my heart out! i know it's not perfect, there are things I definitely need to edit but I'm proud that I've written this story nonetheless.
anyway, i didn't expect this story to get attention but here we are, 77k views later. thank you so much for caring, thank you for reading. words can't express the gratefulness I feel.
you can 100% read Bulletproof Hearts alone and leave with the message that's left in the end. and that is: Love is not bulletproof.
It's not a nice message but it's pretty damn realistic, if I say so myself.
as much as this was a love story though, this story boils down to what it started with for me as its writer and that is: Freya. she was the first idea to pop into my head and I built it all around her. sure, there's crime and gangs and romance but to me, Bulletproof Hearts is about, above all, the disaster that is the teenage girl experience.
so while i may have completely shot holes into my ships, i'd like to make sure my baby Freya Arsov does not drown. sure, she'll get water in her lungs, but we all have been there.
and things can get better.
any questions you have in regards to all those twists that happened, pls feel free to ask over here. i'll try to answer to the best of my ability but if i'm being honest and if it wasn't obvious, I have no idea what's going on half of the time. and no, i will not tell you if Matthew is dead or alive, that's what the sequel is for.
But, stay tuned for the sequel. the story continues.
the sequel already has its first few chapters written but i won't post for a while. i'll give you guys the name i have as of right now which might change idk: Bleeding Hearts (inspired by Don't Watch Me Cry by Jorja Smith; go listen!!)
thank you to everyone who has read. special thank you to those who have voted and commented, I laughed at every single comment (sometimes I even laughed at the ones where you guys said you were crying i'm sorry). and thank you to those of you who will continue on to read the next story.
words can't really describe how grateful i am. i never expected this to get any attention. thank you x infinity. ya tebya lyublyu.
ew that was so mushy and in the feels and long,, i'm sorry you had to read that i promise i will never do it again.
