knowledge is power, or so they say
with power you can get what you want, or so they say
the more i read, the more i learn
the more helpless i feel
the problems of this earth are too many for me to bear
Racism for one.
does it make sense to you? discrimination over something i cannot change.
a problem that effects so many people and yet it is brushed away.
knowledge is power they say
but as a black person it will never be enough
i will never be enough, because of the colour of my skin
no matter how much I read and learn I will never get the same opportunities as my white peers.
you can kid yourself "this doesn't happen in my country"
you are wrong, it looks different maybe, but it is still there
it may be through police brutality (RIP George Floyd)
or it may be through those microaggressions;
it may be through the Eurocentric education system;
it may be through colourism but its there;
its always fucking there
but knowledge is power and education is key,
white ally's are important don't just sit back and watch!
keep learning, keep listening, keep reading and things may change.
